Congrats! I have a HAM amateur, I think I have pushed the PTT button once in ten years! I like listening to whats going on, never had anything to say, more of a glad I have it just in case kinda thing. A bunch of guys as work use them, one of them runs a repeater.
Thanks for the reminder I am pretty sure I have to renew mine this November.

Pull Pal works great, since we have a lot of places here in west without trees it is essential if you are out wheeling alone. Super heavy duty, and heavy, so you want to think about where to secure it. I put mine on spare tire carrier.

I was going to say, 10 years, your just about due for a renewal!
I'm still shopping around for a handheld, I'm thinking of getting Yaesu FT-60R.. I dont know what i'm going to mount in the truck, lot of research ahead of me, any recommendations for in car radios?
I might get a dual band hand held and a 2m for the truck, i dont know, I just passed the test, which has consumed me for the past month lol.
I'm still waiting for my call sign, hopefully this Friday they will publish it.

Had a big weekend
My son helped me do a few mods on my 2012 Ltd. Started Friday night and finished up Sunday night. I've got the mod fever, but have to rest a few months after this.
We ripped off the X-REAS which took a lot longer than anticipated. It's all put on before they mount the body, and access to some of the brackets was challenging. Put on Icon extended travel coil-overs, LR UCAs, Icon 2.0 rear shocks and SAW 2" rear coils. When done we had to jack the truck up a couple of inches to get the tires back on. The new version of LR UCAs only has two washers, the outside ones, making for a very easy install.
Next came a Shrockworks front bumper. Took about 6 hours with breaks. Be sure to follow the instructions about not tightening the bumper brackets before mounting the bumper. I had to loosen the bolts after trying in vain to mount the bumper with them tight. The fit is that precise.
Finally came Slee slider steps. Would have been a very quick install except you have to drop the gas tank skid and gas tank strap. Still only took about 2 1/2 hours. When done I jacked the whole passenger side up 4" on the slider-step and there was no flex at all.

LOL I have a Yaesu VX-2, tiny little thing only like 2 watts. The others have VX-6, VX-7, and one just got a VX-8. Been thinking about upgrading then I started reading all this analog to digital business and started getting confused about what to buy.

No kidding man, there is so much more to it.
Even though I passed the test, I feel like I need to do a ton more homework to understand the frequencies and available technologies to go along with it.
As if I need more stuff to research :boom:

Had to perform this today & SUCCESS . After boys putting in new 51s pinched the pass. side abs sensor wire . Much MFing & GDing was able to figure out I was upside down on the OBDii , Doh !!!! Very simple & many thanks to all those who came & went before to solve this !!! :bravo:

5100 fronts came today, ordered Friday. Expecting the rears tomorrow or Thursday.
Obviously I did not hold out for the new 6112's like I was thinking last month, I decided I didn't need anything more than 5100 for a few years, luckily I found some places that had them all in stock and shipped out same day as the order. Now to just determine the springs.

I had to wait a little longer on my 51s !! Nov 11 . Got em Jan 27 . Bought some FJ coils off service mngr. from his 2014 FJ & used them very happy with ride , only had like 5mi. on them before he went with King !!

I searched around from someone who had them listed as in stock, ended up going with two different vendors off of Amazon. Total they ended up costing $20 more than wheelers, but free shipping so likely saved money there and time.

Got my ToyTec BOSS kit today! (Well most of it. The rear shocks are back ordered a couple weeks.) Will post pics after install.

The screws are a smudge too long. I can see where they make contact on the body when the hatch is closed which has now rusted a little. And when I say little, I mean little.

I got the ICOM 2300h 2m radio because it is small and puts out 65 watts. It works well, so much better than CB! The ability to use repeaters is pretty cool, it is really nice for expanding range when in remote areas. Ham radio is a whole world, but even just using it with friends on trips is worth the work to pass the test.
