I got around to installing my RAM mount. Inspired by [MENTION=112895]balistikboy[/MENTION] 's placement and help! No shaking with the iPad mini, and it lets me keep my cup holders functional. Testing it around Tahoe this weekend trying to find any National Forest service road with an open gate!

I've been toying with this idea as well. That said I assume the only way to make this work is to get an iPad mini with a data plan? Can the iPad mini use GPS without a data plan and you'd just pre-cache the data at a wifi hotspot?

Yes, you can have gps signal without a data plan on a cellular iPad.

I am using a data plan on mine because I am on the road a lot for work during the week in my work truck. You could pick up a Bad Elf receiver and pre-download maps. That would work for non data users. I use Gaia GPS and you can pre-download anything and everything.

Well I worked on my damaged doors for around four hours over the course of two days. There is still some damage but I will have to live with it.
I used Meguiars M100, Meguiars Ultimate Compound, and 3D HD Speed. I also used 600, 800, 1000, and 1500 sand paper. I used a Griot's Garage Random Orbiter.

Or use your smartphone wifi hotspot when you have data service. This should do the trick most of the time on the road and you can always download ahead of time for specific areas/trips as needed.

gray - mount/balanced spare KO2

Saturday:
white - replaced TE rear valence with black TRD valence, anthracite pd rear badges
gray - installed spidertrax, anthracite pd rear badges
both - get drunk on the lawn at Karbach Brewing Co.

Sunday:
gray - front fender mod, front mud flaps removed for now, int/ext wash and detail
white - heading home while i relax and watch football

Finally broke down and trimmed my front bumper covers. And readjusted the wheel well liners. No more rubbing at full lock reverse

I have mine mounted in the same spot, my doesn't vibrate but it will jitter on washboards if I don't bump it up against the dash. Really like it there, painless install too.

Yep. Pretty simple. I have the exact parts and step by step if you want in my post.

To get a little more specific, tethering with an iPhone will not only get you an Internet connection but will also pass the GPS info from your phone. Having the cellular model is faster and seamless but this is a good second choice.

Yea, just read your build thread, i'm not keen on putting to put holes anywhere - but like you mention can replace that plastic piece.

BTW, you rig looks *****en those SCS wheels are killer. I'm leaning towards the S-6 with the 255/80 Coopers - had the same on my old 80 series and just love the tall skinny - plus with the offset of those wheels it'll put the rubber where it should have been from the factory!

It is super simple, that piece pops off without need to remove anything else. IIRC pretty sure [MENTION=112895]balistikboy[/MENTION] backed it with a piece of sheet metal or similar, much recommended.

If needed, the part number for replacement is 55012-35030, it's roughly $45, and it is model specific. It is pretty much the cheapest place you can drill holes and revert to stock.
