One thing to keep in mind with things like offroad bumpers, is that there's often a lack of polish in the smaller details. Not that I want to take away from how complicated it is to make some of this stuff. But my CBI bumper's latch works great, but has a rather annoying flaw. Specifically the mating surface between bumper and swing arm, which was rubbing raw from use, and exposing the steel to the elements. Steel + moisture = gonna have a bad time.
So my solution was to obtain some delrin sheets, and machine them as ridiculously thin as possible, less than 2 mm, cut the resulting sheets, and make them look visually nice. 3M industrial double stick tape, and now the problem seems to have been solved.
While this is unlikely to interest you, I find the act of addressing the small details to be extremely rewarding.
