Alright! I got the front bilsteins and OME springs installed so my suspension is complete. Install of the front took about 2.5 hours. I tried using the spring compressor I bought at Harbor Freight but I couldn't get all the hooks onto the springs. They were too fat to fit in between the coils. So I removed both stock coil overs and bright them and the new springs and struts to my friends tire shop. I had them dissemble the stock stuff and assemble the new ones. After I got it all set up I did a little off roading to see how she did and got some mud on her. The new ride feels nice. Now I have to sell the Truxxx spacer kit and stock suspension I had in it.

What did you set the front bilstein at and how much lift did you end up getting up front? How is the ride quality?

So I forgot to get a before measurement but the front height seems the exact same as the Truxxx spacer lift I had in it which was a 3" lift. I had zero rubbing with the lift and I still have no rubbing so it must be pretty close to the same. Spring in mounted on the lowest setting of the bilstein.

In the front it measure 13.25" from the top of rim to fender and 14.5" in the rear.

Ride is nice. I debated going with the medium springs but I am glad I didn't. It would have been too stiff. The ride now is a little stiffer but still feels very comfortable cruising around. It doesn't roll side to side or nose dive as much as it used to. That would be my favorite part about it.

How much room did you have left? I have a 285/75/17 on the TRD wheel, not sure if it's even worth trying. Also not sure if it can support the weight.

Thanks! I did the OME 2884 up front and the OME 2895E springs in the rear. Bilstein 5100 all the way around.

I'm going to be swapping out SR5 roof rails with TE rails. I'm getting all hardware, but will I need new gaskets, etc for waterproofing?

Weekend hunting

After 4k miles, I figured it was time to see how she pulled a trailer, so took it to the camp for some hunting this past weekend. I was greatly impressed with how well it pulled and how the motor never seemed to be under too much stress. That was until I checked my average MPG...Oh well, I didn't buy it expecting to drive across country on $50.

Anyways heres just a few shots. Now to hope I can get a decent Christmas bonus and throw some new shoes on her.

12-14, I was getting 11-12 on the dirt roads pulling hills and such, but most of the drive was two lane highway averaging about 60MPH and 14MPG.

My old Tahoe with a 5.3 V8 would pull 16-17MPG on the same drive, so it is a little disappointing that the vehicle lacks power and doesn't make up for that with MPG, but I knew this way before purchasing, and it obviously didn't effect my decision. :guitar3:
