Today was all 4Runner all day. First, I installed front and rear disconnecting sway bar links from [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION]. A little fiddly to mount up the rears but not too bad. Fronts are simple. Really interested to see how the new front disconnect works off road. Should get out again in mid January.
In the meantime I'll enjoy my white whale of a truck feeling like a sports car again. LOL! There is a little noise with the links but it's not too bad.
I also pulled all my skids to repaint the vehicle side of them. Brake fluid got everywhere when I installed the rear MT LT setup a week or so ago. Found out that the RCI diff skid interferes with the rear sway bar. They have pictures of it installed with the sway bar on their site but I couldn't get it to line up. I'll try again sometime later.
This is the first time I've run a rear sway bar in months (because of the extended links). Diff skid fits fine without the sway bar.
Unfortunately I also found out that my front diff is leaking. Looks to be from the main seal as best I can tell. Inboard sides of the CVs and the input shaft from the t-case are dry and so is everything above the diff.
Off to the store for gear oil and a pump. Got everything cleaned up then added some oil. It took about 5 oz to top it off. Not too bad of a leak but I'll need to keep an eye on it. I plan to regear and lock soon but not for at least a few months.
Finally, I swapped the original Panasonic battery for a factory sized Duralast Platinum AGM battery. I considered the trusty Diehard Platinum 31M but it's just total overkill for my needs. If I ever get a fridge I'll add one as part of a dual battery setup but that's way down the line.

I was just wondering... do the leds 'soft-start' (can-BUS controlled): ramp-up and ramp-down like conventional bulbs, or are they just: full-on / full-off? Thanks,

I can't believe my truck is almost four years old already!
It seems like only yesterday that I was searching the "Tri-state" area (NJ-NY-Conn) in hopes of finding a Pre-owned certified 4Runner limited with very low mileage (10,000 to 25,000 mi). Well after searching for the above described for about two months, I found myself getting tired of trying to find a used one for less than 40,000 out the door. One night at around 7:00 pm, I jumped up said to my wife... "That's it, I'm done with this B*&& S#!^. I'm going down to the Toyota dealership and ordering my "Blizzard Pearl" limited!
I had already saved up enough cash to get it; it was just unavailable! I marched into that dealership that same evening and asked for help. When the sales department found out that I was already ready to purchase a vehicle, you know I automatically became 'King BIG DADDY MACK KANE' to them! hahaha! So we sat down and talked a little. They found it hard to believe that I would have about $50 G's on me at the time, but I did (Cashier's check) because I didn't want to pay a note every month or the interest that comes along with it, so I picked up a bank check on my way to Toyota.
I explained to the salesman what I had been looking for and the color. He tried to suggest that I buy a Black-on-Black limited he had in the lot out back. It was gorgeous man; even though it was past twilight and was now night time. I was almost persuaded to grab that one but I soon realized that I was just tired of waiting and really wanted to get this thing over with; that's no way to make a purchase like this one! I told the guy... NO, and that I still want the BP. So he ordered the one I wanted and said: "it'll be here on Saturday morning"; this being a Tuesday was going to make sleeping very difficult at best!
Long story short... it came in right on schedule as planned and my wife and I celebrated me getting...

...that was all well and good, but this is what happened today:
"GETTING OLD" :cry2: ...just like me lol! (Turned 12,000 miles today)

What! 12,000 miles! I had a 2014 SR5 Premium and we put 35,000 in 2 years. They are so much fun to drive! Yours looks Sweet!

Are you totally out of warranty? Seems like Toyota should address the issue to me.

My 4R will do about 3k/yr on average because I have access to more than one vehicle. I kinda like that it still has very low mileage/wear-n-tear because it helps to maintain it's resale value. Every mod that's been done to it is completely reversible so if/when I decide to sell it, the buyer will have the option to keep or remove the added equipment e.g., DC-Powers alternator, PIAA auxiliary fog-lights, 'Alpine Sub-woofer system'...etc. I'm not sure just what the 2012 Limited's are selling for these days, but out of all the L.E's for sale in my (50 to 75 mile radius) area, I'm guessing that this truck will be among the ones with the lowest mileage!
