God damn your 'Runner is gorgeous, every time you post a picture I have to just sit and stare for a few minutes.


Today I removed the lower air dam trim from my front bumper. This makes it much easier to push my fender liner in to eliminate rubbing, and makes the front look taller. Thinking about adding a front skid to clean up the look a bit. I really love the look of the TRD skid and think its possible to make it fit, I just wish it was actually as stout as the aftermarket ones.

I also bit the bullet and ordered a set of Camburg ball joint UCA's. I was getting tired of the squirrelly handling on the highway, especially when there's a strong crosswind. Hopefully the added caster will eliminate the BM rubbing as well. I decided that if I was going to have to take everything apart up front I might as well upgrade from my stock front coils. So I ordered some Toytec 2.5" coils with the top spacers for a full 3" lift up front :reckon:

Finally, I ordered a set of TYC 2014 LED rear tail lights. Last weekend I smoked my stock tails with Niteshades. While they do look cool I had problems backing out of my driveway in the dark due to the reduced reverse light output.

Can't wait to see how this all looks and performs!

Why do you think it isn't as stout as an aftermarket one? I hit this rock hard and the only reason it bent is because it is in the vented area. It seems as strong as the rest of my RCI aluminum skids, and is just as as thick.

Went road biking with my friend and one of his friends. When I pulled up, there were 2 other 4Runners in my friend's driveway. We had 2014 SR5, 2015 SR5, and my 2016 TE.

-Finally finished the interior rear hatch release mod... or as I like to call it "how many times can I goof this up mod."

-finally after a few years of putting it off (deployments, other mods, lazy) I finished the rear accessory plugs relocate. I had scuffed up the cargo area a while back because I was going to Monstaline it.

With the addition of the Fridge I really needed a new battery. THe stock one was barely hanging on as it was. If I used the stereo for 15 minutes without running the 4runner, it was hard to start. Since Sears no longer carries the Platinum series battery I went to it's sister battery, the Odyssey 34R-PC1500. I considered the 31M but didn't really want the extra weight for now, and if I ever do add more power hungry things like a winch, I may just do a dual battery setup.

I cleaned up the hold down and the battery tray. Both still had some mud even after my extensive cleaning of the belly of the beast. Changed out the red anti-corrosion spray coated stock connectors for some Platinum Monster Cable connectors from an old install. I think they look much better. When I started up the 4Runner after the install, I was shocked at how much more aggressive the starter was. It actually spun hard. What a major upgrade.

Looooooong time lurker in this thread, first time poster.

Today I was reunited with my 2014 Limited, stock aside from tinted windows and a cell phone cradle. I've been out of town for work all month driving a damn yaris. It felt so glorious mounting this familiar silver steed.
I've resolved to finally make a few mods I've always wanted. I want a bit more aggressive look but will by no means be offroading aside from some occasional snow fun.

From my limited knowledge I'll need:

-simple body lift of 2.5 in the front and 1.5 in the rear using easy to install spacers ($100-200)
-set of 17" rims (~$800)
-set of nice all terrain tires ($800-1000)

Are my assessments accurate, aside from the recommended alignment with the lift? Are my costs accurate? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance, guys.

RCI A-arm and gas tank skids

I threw on some RCI A-arm and Gas tank aluminum skid plates. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and will absolutely purchase more from RCI once my wallet fills up with more money. The customer service was excellent (over the phone) and the packaging and instructions were spot on. Here's a few pics:



Look how much thinner the stock skid's steel is over the RCI aluminum. I've had the stock skids for a while, and they've been okay, but it scares me what Toyota calls a skid plate!

Washed and waxed after the mountain trip yesterday, and I removed the front logo and plastidipped it in grey to match the paint. Now I need to do the rear logos next weekend...

Drove up to Tibble Fork Reservoir with my daughter in our newly lifted T4R. Had some great conversation about what she is learning and doing in the lab. She is in her 3rd year of Bio-Medical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry and she is only 19.
