Inspired by [MENTION=95539]SIRWILLYSC[/MENTION], I sampled the NC/TN portion of the Trans-America Trail. It is hard to imagine driving on these types of roads for hundreds or thousands of miles. I think I did about 50 miles unpaved. I found out I need a better GPS than an iPhone with no signal.:lol: But it is definitely an adventure that I hope to experience. :thumb:

Oddly enough the time doesn't seem to go by as slow as you would think that it does and I think the reason is is because there's always something new to see around every corner. The further you go the better it gets. I don't think however that you could see everything in one time you would have to do the trail to the west and back at least twice. Just make sure that you do it at a time of year that it will not be snowing in the mid Northwest

LOL I did not see a flake of snow, though they say it might hit the higher elevations this evening. I started in Townsend TN based on Sam pdf maps, went through Cades Cove to find out that Parsons Branch was still closed, took Rich Mtn Rd back to Townsend, over to Robbinsville, jumped on to Old Santeetlah Rd, Forest Rd 81 I think all the way over to Tellico Plains, TN. I've done lots of road trips on back roads but not dirt roads for long distances. I'm wanting to give it a shot once I get gear and time.

Riding in Houston sucks.
Back home in Durango/Silverton/Aztec area, is waaaaay better. Moto paradise up there.

Took a close to 1,500 miles round trip from Gilbert, AZ to Roswell, NM with a stop in Benson, AZ and Bisbee, AZ. I have close to 50K mi on my 2014
I stopped at a Border Patrol check point and the agent was giving me the look as I lowered my right side windows b/c of the tint..he sees me, my wife, daughter and son in the car seat then said:
him: I have ONE question for you
me: yes sir..?
him: how do you like your 4Runner?
me: are you kidding me? I love this thing...I did this and this and i want to do that and that
him: I want to get one for my wife and it looks like a great family car
me: oh yeah she'll love it
after driving off the check point my wife turns around to the kids and said "here we go again, daddy making friends and talking about his car.."
