So I went to the dealership.
So yesterday, while nearing the end of a 2,000 + mile road trip, I called ahead to schedule my 5k service & an oil change at a dealership in the town we were spending the night. I thought that by doing this, I would be saving time, and a future trip out of town, as the closest Toyota dealership to me is over 2 hours away. After breakfast, and dropping my wife off at Barnes & Noble, I went to the dealership 20 minutes early for my 10:00 am scheduled appointment. I quickly checked the truck in at service and discussed the work to be done. I should have known better when I was asked multiple times if I had purchased the vehicle at this particular dealership (which I had not). While handing over the keys, I asked about changing particular settings on the truck, such as
eco-gauge, and seat belt warning, etc...I was told by the service writer, that it is against the law to make any changes to the truck this way. I laughed, but was not going to argue with him. I was told they would have me all taken care of in under an hour, which is also what I was told on the phone when scheduling the service, which was great considering how I was ready to be home after a long week of driving. Anyhow, 11:00 rolls around, and my truck is still waiting on the line, not even in the shop yet, as many other vehicles were taken after I arrived. I requested the keys, ready to get home, they acted as if I was inconveniencing them somehow, and told me they can get it on a lift and out the door in 10-15 minutes. No thank you. So much for trying to save a little time.
