So the backstory is that I smashed the bejeezus out of my original plate (the oregon tree one, which is the default plate) in Moab. And it was pretty mutilated, their term not mine, and had it off. I almost never park on the street, and getting it replaced was on my priority list.
Finally I got hit with a ticket here in Portland, for 80 friggin dollars. And Portland doesn't do fix-it tickets. So I went to the DMV and 20 minutes later had new plates. I thought they just ordered new plates with the same license plate number to keep confusion down. Turns out they just give you new plates with a new number. So I upgraded to the Pacific Wonderland plates, which are basically like the blue/yellow version of the classic retro California black/yellow plates. When I bought the TRD PRO the dealer basically checked the default plate option without giving me the option, so I got saddled with the lame plates. And then when I called the DMV asking to upgrade earlier this spring someone gave me the wrong information that indicated that I would have to re-register, smoke check, etc, the vehicle resulting it it costing 350 dollars just to get new plates.
Anyways, long story short, 34 dollars for new plates, and 100 dollars to upgrade to the blue-yellow ones. I'm a fan.
I'll admit it looks better without a front license plate, especially since it shows off the Factor 55 fairlead and flatlink-e:
That plate looks great! Pretty cool in OR they hand the plate right over. I've been waiting over 4 months for my CA legacy plate. Sucks, much like the DROS process.
