Sprayed Fluid Film under the truck to stop specks of rust from spreading. Thanks to WSDOT spreading salt like they are running out of storage or something, I now have rust starting. :sad:

Stuffs amazing. Make sure to go HEAVY inside the frame rails, that's where the stuff is of most use. I went through 5 cans in total. Next year I'll go with the gallon pail and spray gun.

I finally got around to installing my lift today. Did the bilstein 5100 set at .85 with the ToyTec 2" spacer, and Daystar 1.5" coil spacers in the rear with Bilsteins. Along with a set of SPC UCA's. Also installed a ToyTec Diff drop kit.

My starting measurements were 35" up front and 36.5" in the rear all stock.
As it sits now my measurements from ground to fender are 38" in the front and 38" in the rear. Hopefully when I get the alignment dialed in it will bring the front down 1/4"-1/2".
If not I may have to redo the front and lower it a bit.
The front was fairly easy. But the rear was a PITA!

Now I'm just waiting on TireRack to send my rims and 4WP to order my tires and I should be all set.

I'll post pictures tomorrow. It's dark so I didn't snap any pictures yet.

Nice choice! Love tossing mine around the track, but obviously not an SM. I traded my Subaru STi in on the 4Runner because the Miata is more fun to drive in anything but a straight line.

I need to take another pic though, as both vehicles have changed a good bit. I'll probably take another one after the 4Runner has been lifted, as the Miata is sitting about 0.5" lower now.

Then hubby brought home a tiny racecar.

That looks so much better. That hideous chromed-out front end is part of the reason I wound up going with a Trail...still wish I had the full-time 4WD though.

Those roof rails look fantastic. How "involved" is the process of removing them?

It really wasn't too bad. I found a photo guide on the Forum and a PDF with the process for adding cross rails. It took me about 2 hours start to finish and I was pretty careful because I didn't want to scratch or dent my roof.

Just be careful when you flex the end caps so they don't break. I used a cheapo Ebay trim tool.

Wrapped up the fridge slide this evening. I used these 2" steel spacers that I found at ACE hardware as supports underneath the floor carpet, along with a series of large washers to spread the surface area out.

After moving to Denver 3 weeks ago, finally got out to play in the mountains. Can't believe how many 4Runners are in Colorado! I'm guessing I saw 100+ today alone.. Once, there were 3 in a row on the highway..

Still learning the peaks around here, but I think this is Sheep Mountain from the Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir parking lot on Hwy 91, Looking West.

Trail Badging

Black Plastidipped my new Trail badges and installed them this weekend. The two-sided 3M tape does wonders and I'm digging the subtle black-on-black look.

Lifted 3", and clearanced bumper/wheel well liner in prep for higher offset, wider rims, and hopefully this summer new MEATS (HELL YEAH BROTHER).

Super super easy, Just undo the two bolts, screw those into new holes drilled, then tape off and score the bumper with an exacto, and you dont even need to cut all the way through at first. Just bend it after maybe 2-3 passes and then when you bend the piece being removed up, a white bit of plastic will appear (white because its being stretched) and just cut along that.

Sand it even and smooth and you're all done! Way easier than I was expecting, got it done in maybe an hour and a half. Managed to gain 1.5 inches of clearance at the widest point.
NOTE: These pictures were taken with the wheel at full lock in the inward direction (in the right wheel well this would be full left lock etc.)

Busy weekend for the 4Runner blacking everything out. First came the logo/emblem covers.

I got a pair of emblems from a Trail Blazer, cut off the Blazer portion, Plasti dipped them for Trail badges.

It's something different and unneeded to test out Plasti Dip for.....this project. I like the look of the Pro but don't want to spend $500 for 2 pieces of plastic so this is the result.

As you might be able to see in my signature picture, I attempted to do the black out TRD middle bumper piece, but it was very hard to get a clean line on the outer edges of the "bar". how did you do that?

I used painters tape to make the outline. Once it dried, I used a Xacto knife to cut right along the edge of the tape. It doesn't take a lot of pressure so you don't scratch the plastic either. The tape just peels right up after that. Probably didn't have to use the knife all the way around but it looked much cleaner. Good luck!

Blacked Out Extended Hitch Ball Cover and Lock

Bought a Thule Sonic XL for my factory crosssbars and used it on a camping trip this weekend.

The Thule Sonic XL is now discontinued. If you want one, gotta find it in stock somewhere (I went to Rack Attack). This is too bad since the Sonic XL is one of only 2 roof boxes I've found 15 cu. ft. or larger, fits my 185 cm skis, and fits onto factory crossbars. The other is the Thule Hyper XL which is the same box, but with LED lights inside and a more rigid floor and lid--for $350 more.

The Sonic XL does not contact the lift gate when open, and does not interfere with the shark fin. XM Radio and NavTraffic worked just fine.

How much did it cost you to get this? very nice Ive been searching for one that can fit the factory cross bars.
