What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

A little bit of both. At first I just eye balled the length of the inside scoop area and estimated no more than a foot. So I went online and found this Red Plasma Glow light that was 8in long and bought it off amazon.

Come to find out the length of the scoop is like 17"!

The scanning motion was perfect from the circuit board, so we just unsoldered the LEDs off the board. Got different LEDs from Fry's Electronics, some small circuit board to cut in to small squares, and brought the black interior part of the hood scoop to eplastics for them to cut me 2 pieces of tinted acrylic.

Soldered the LEDs to the small circuit board we cut up, drill holes through the first piece of acrylic for each LED and mount, and put the second acrylic on top to seal. Then we sealed it all the way around.

It was actually more work than I was thinking it was going to be initially but I think it turned out well.

I'll post a video at some point with some knight rider music, thats what most people want anyway.

thanks. it should be finished today. Think I'll be checking out that diff breather mod now.

welp. they replaced the diff (and that loose rear seat cover), but the noise is still there. Any one else notice a pulsing noise on stopping? it's not as loud as it was before, but it's troublesome

Spending my vacation at the Dealer Service Dept

At the Dealer Service Dept. New 2016 SR5 Premium. At 2500 miles I'm on vacation. Headed from Seattle to Idaho, and then towards Moab. Unfortunately the vehicle seems ot have no power. Between 4000 and 6100 ft there was no power in a climb. Couldn't get it above 2500 RPM until the road hit a plateau in automatic. Then I'd get a jump to 3000 RPM and a speed increase. Actually bucked on me twice when I stepped on the gas on a downhill, in H2! Anyone else had this kind of issue?

Now I'm spending my vacation at the dealership. Hoping its just a sensor, e.g. MASS. Sigh. Next time I have $42000 in my pocket to buy a new car before a cross country trip it won't be a Toyota.

Finally got my LEDs installed in my fog lamps today. I put the PIAA LEDs in the fogs. I really like the color and performance of these. Might get another pair to match the headlights better but overall it's pretty good.

I worked for Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive suppliers and there is a vast difference in auto parts. Some manufacturers don't even have their parts 100% inspected like Chrysler. The Toyota lines had 200% and 300% inspection. The 4Runner is built at the highest quality, most advanced plants in the world, not Mexico, where they live in the parking lot.

Honda and Toyota have never let me down.

It's attached to the door so it swings with the door. It's not independent of the door though.

Sucks but it could happen to any manufacturer. It happens, they'll fix it, you'll be happy again.

I took Megaweapon out to the desert Monday afternoon, spent the night, and returned Tuesday. Main purpose of this trip was to try out my new drone.
