What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Park guard told me I can't take this road because it is flooded...

Look ok to me.

Moab - Didn't go entirely as planned, the weather was rainy for a couple days and got a nasty sinus bug (.....only get sick on vacation) so aside from the typical Moab tours (rafting, hiking, repelling, food) we got to do Top of the World, Fins N Things, Baby Lions back and White Wash Sand Dunes. Over all Top of the world was the most technical with a handful of decent sized ledges to navigate. Fins was just a blast but your rear end takes a beating. Baby Lions back was just because its so short and the Dunes were Awesome.

Overall we loved it we will be back hopefully with a high clearance rear bumper and slightly larger tires

Great pics, especially the side view mirror shot!

They are all I fish. I'm stuck on bamboo rods as well, I can't fish a graphite rod... just can't do it. There have been times when I had a graphite, or even glass rod strung up walking down to the river, I stop half way and think to myself.... nahhh.... back to car or back to camp and string up the grass.

You CAN do both, but you don't NEED to do either unless you plan on running longer travel shocks. I run a 3" lift with an OEM track bar and OEM brake line. My shocks and sway bar will limit me far before the brake line stretches too far. I don't feel a track bar is necessary unless you're lifting far more than 3".

Thanks for the info. What lift are you running? I currently have the ToyTec Ultimate kit with the standard superflex rear coils and 5100 extended length shocks. I believe these will bottom out before the lines get pulled too tight though like you said. Thinking about either going with taller coils or just adding a 1" spacer on top of them. The rear is currently at about 24.25" center of hub to the bottom of the fender. Lift has been on for about 8 weeks but only about 300 miles on it in that time.

Well I picked up the truck yesterday after 2.5 weeks and a redo I described earlier. I still wasn't happy with the hinge alignment so I stopped at the dealer and had my service advisor look at it. He agreed it wasn't right and to call the body shop's manager, which I did and he's agreed to make it right. However after I got home and really looked at it, I found it was still completely unacceptable and I'm pissed I even picked it up. Here's the list of shit we found wrong...it's looong:
1. Spoiler is hitting the body on the right passenger side when tailgate is open (creating new paint damage)
2. Dent in upper left tailgate under window
3. Paint lines clearly visible down the sides of tailgate (especially on right passenger side)
4. Paint overspray on edges of tailgate (finish feels rough)
5. Damage to both sides of tailgate garnish where garnish was pried off
6. Right passenger appliqué chipped at bottom
7. Chrome 4Runner emblem on garnish is nicked and scratched
8. Foam gaskets for the garnish bolts were not installed after specifically leaving a message with the adjuster that they were a one time use item because they compress and will cause paint rubbing issues over time
9. Something rolling/rattling inside of tailgate
10. Left and right side headliner was not properly installed (headliner not tucked back behind plastic, looks pinched and creased)
11. Mark in paint to the right of the license plate and a couple small places where paint is not smooth (not sanded/chip painted over?)
12. Left side of spoiler has some play.

I'm in utter disbelief that any reputable shop could allow this.

Same reply here since this page has A LOT more traffic than the "other"

Sounds like a total POS body shop. I would call my insurance company a demand it be done by another shop. Sounds like this shop is completely incompetent and I wouldn't trust them to air in my tires let alone fix everything they screwed up. You need to tell us the name and location of this shop so it can be completely avoided by others in the area.

It's AutoNation Collision Center in Las Vegas. We are planning to go in there tomorrow and rip into them and then take it elsewhere. I'd maybe consider letting them fix just the right hinge, but this is totally ridiculous. Here's the worst issues...

Saturday morning MODS

Started the day off giving the truck a wash & wax.

Attempted to install the PELFREYBILT Hidden Winch Mount (HWM) on my 5th GEN SR5 with WARN Zeon Platinum 10-S Winch. The body style of my 4Runner is slightly different from the Trail version. The front is larger, giving it a sporty look vs being blunt like the trail to accommodate approach angles.

While the HWM installed perfectly when attempting to fit the fairlead it was in a less than ideal location (see red). I'll reach back to Pelfreybilt and ask specifically if 1/4-1/2 spacers could be used to raise the height, centering the winch properly in the open lattice of the front end (see blue). Overall the construction of the HWM is STOUT and includes a bracket to attach the divorced solenoid (which I'll need to purchase the relocation kit from WARN).

Either way, beautiful day in Washington and fun to problem solve.

Enjoy the week!

I'm running the OME 898's with OME Nitrocharger Sport shocks. It gives me around 3" of lift with the weight of my rear bumper. Sitting at about 24.75" Center of hub to fender in the rear. With your planned setup, you won't need the track bar or extended brake line.

Beautiful day in WA indeed. Nice ride with quality mods. However, I hear your rig screaming for beefier shoes, haha.

Ended up ordering a set o Cornfed 3/4" spacers. I think that'll put it right where I want it. Going to throw some poly sway bar bushings on it also since i'll have it all apart again lol. 1800 miles on the truck, 300 miles on the lift, time to tear it apart again!

If you're anything like me there is a secret gratification that comes along with "having to tear your rig apart again." Have fun!

lol you're absolutely right. I can't leave anything alone, ever.

Yea, I may have had my lift parts in my garage before I took delivery on my 4Runner, haha. The rig had 100 miles on the clock when I lifted it. It's a sick (and expensive) disease, but we are all happier for it.

First post and first run through some new trails since moving back to NJ
