What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Not today, but this past weekend relocated my USB/Aux plug (wow, this is a shitty picture) and picked up an extra set of Trail wheels to have powdercoated so I won't have to go two weeks without a working vehicle.

Exactly what I did in regards to the wheels. I picked up a second set for 220 and got them powder coated in Olympia wa at forever powdercoating they did a great job!

Nice! $250 for my set. Figured that was a good deal when I see some sets going for as much as $800. Seattle Powdercoat quoted me like $350 to do the entire set. So even if I don't successfully sell my wheels after I swap them out, that's still not too bad of a price for "new wheels" when I really don't like the look of any aftermarket options.

1) Pick up my new MD tags at the dealer.
2) Got a free front end alignment at the dealer.
3) Drove a friend to lunch, then went to Home-D to pick up 9 cinder blocks, 480 lbs of mortar and 160 lbs of concrete.

The issue I had with the fronts was that the massive nuts they provide don't fit in the very tight space between the frame and the cab (I couldn't get a good picture, but if you've done this install you will probably know what I mean). My plan now is to get a shallower nut, but even then it's going to be a real pain in the ass to get it threaded. If that fails I'll try giving the guys at 4x4 labs a call on Monday and see what the trick is. Am I missing something?

Hey, apologies for the delayed reply. After talking with the above mentioned guys before purchasing my set of sliders from 4x4 Labs, I had Luke and his crew install them at their shop, I am fortunate to be close by. I didn't want to deal with trying to wrestle them, by myself, in my driveway on my back haha. When they installed them, they removed the rocker including that front plastic end cap that your photos show still being attached. As [MENTION=89562]bimrunner[/MENTION] mentioned, the trick as I remember is to get the nut lined up with the u-bolt as you slide it through, then use an open ended wrench to tighten. It's a tight fit, but strong as hell in design. I have used them extensively to make up for my lack of lift on trails that I probably shouldn't have been on. I got the shift knob on ebay. Not sure what year. There are 2 types. One is all black and the other one is black with silver which is a perfect match!

Bluetooth update

It looks like I got a recent bluetooth software update.

I usually just use the USB, but the other day I couldn't connect my phone. It kept failing to connect when I selected it from the list.

So I deleted it from the radio and added it back, when adding it I noticed the bluetooth is named differently in the phone list.

Simple fix, just a heads up.

Returning home from a local park, saw a gravel road and decided it was better than all the blacktop.

Changed the front marker lights to led if you have baby hands could access from top by taking trim off or take inner fender bolts loose took me forever to twist them loose just a weird angle.

Went by Carmax and took the truck to a third shop yesterday. Smaller mom and pop type with good reviews and one that refuses to be a preferred insurance shop so they aren't tied to doing the insurance company's bidding. The owner looked it over and said to make it right we needed to start from square 1. He wants to get new hinges, liftgate, window glass, garnish and emblems, clips etc... pretty much everything. Said we will test fit it together and get the liftgate swing and gap issues dealt with and he suspected there was internal tweaking of the current gate and possibly roof. So far I'm liking everything I'm hearing.

I've contacted the insurance and and taking it to their inspector tomorrow to show all the issues and why I'm not happy. From there I can go to any shop I want with the estimate which probably won't cover everything. Hopefully the tear down will vindicate me and what I'm seeing and most of it will be covered.

This is a smaller speciality shop that works on high end Corvettes on down and the owner is pretty no nonsense so I'm hopeful. Now I just gotta decide if I want to go thru more fix and repair on this truck or cut my losses and get something else.

Hey no worries, thanks man. I did have to take both plastic end caps off to remove the rocker trim, then when I got the first slider bolted up I looked at that spot and realized that I could probably fit it back on and it would look cleaner, so I did that before mounting the second one. Going to loosen everything up today and try to get those front bolts on and put the other end cap on. Not looking forward to it haha.
