What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Picked it up from the dealer today and said goodbye to the JKUR, bitter sweet I guess. Really happy with the upgrade!

2018 TRD Off Road Premium. Pretty basic for that trim level, no KDSS no sunroof no sliding cargo deck etc., just all weather floor liners. We decided that going up to the premium trim was where we wanted to spend. I have Yakima cross bars and a Icom ham radio waiting for install, maybe this weekend.

Put these up front. Did the back about 6 months ago. Much nicer and more stable ride.

How are you liking the outcome of the plastidip? I looked up shops to vinyl wrap the valences and they're all quoting about $400

How many miles are on your 4runner? Thinking about flushing mine.

I have 125k on mine now. The last transmission service was done at 60k. So 65000 since last. It really has made a noticeable difference in shift smoothness and gear-searching on hills, etc. And, before anyone starts "diagnosing" why, the fluid level was fine before the change, and it wasn't terribly discolored.

The mirrors are a hit with my wife.

At first she couldn't tell the difference and then she said liked the stock look and the added safety.

This was my first attempt at Plasti-dip. I have seen people who used bed liner instead.

More durable to be sure, but less forgiving...

I thought about vinyl as well, but the cost was ridiculous compared to a can of Plasti-dip.

If the valances just popped off for painting, I might have gone a different way...

Front one pops off no issues. Rear one you gotta pull the bumper. again not a big deal but 2x the effort lol. local shop painted mine satin black for like 180$. Wife likes it, happy wife...

When you say it just pops off, it is a literally just a snap fit? Any hints as to how to do it?

I would hate to break it pulling it off, but it would make a re-spray a no-brainer ...

I assume the plasiti-dip will take a beating on and off road.

I tried to remove these without removing the bumper and it was very difficult. It was very easy to pull the front and rear bumper covers and then remove the valances. I painted mine with plastic paint and several coats of clear for protection. The paint on the front valance was chipped in many places in less than a week. I ended up buying a black valance from a Toyota parts store online and it has looked great ever since. The TRD Pro has the black valance, so when you look to purchase one, look for TRD Pro parts.

I don't have any experience with plasti-dip, but I can tell you the spray paint didn't last on the front valance.

Front one is pretty easy :shrug just reach your hands in and remove the clips. its not difficult. IMO wasn't worth removing the front bumper for it.

Cleaned all the salt off of it and added some exhaust bling. Hard to tell with the angle of the shot but it is tucked nicely under the bumper. The tip's upper edge is flush with the upper edge of the factory exhaust.
