Not this time around. I didn't have enough time. I only made it out to Mesquite Dunes and West Side road across from Badwater. Racetrack is definitely gonna happen on the next trip out.

back woods adventure day

Gave my new suspension a good workout - maybe time for the sway bars to go?

Had to help pull a buick sedan out of the woods.

Got to mob around in a RZR for a bit. And then got to watch buddy send it over a jump and flip coming down the hill.

Solid day up near Sevemile rd outside of Ft. Collins.

Did a headlight restoration on my faded lights. Gotta say it came out as close to brand new as I could have hoped. Should have done this a long time ago!

Found a way to quickly mount a Hi-Lift to the OE roof crossbars:

This is also just a temp set up only to be used when I intend to go off road...until I can settle on a rear bumper set up.

No part of the jack touches the roof. I will probably put the neoprene sleeve on it just to be safe and keep in clean in the AZ dust.

.50" hole and 2 1/2 bolt secured with wing nut on the bottom. The metal brackets are from my old Hi-Lift mount. Just pop in some cheap plastic caps when its removed.

Very curious how they sound. I want to upgrade to those focals and a audison 8.9bit.

They made an amazing difference in the front but the factory series wiring for the rears has the rears only receiving a few watts each. I have an audison bit ten and a 700 watt 5 channel JL Audio amp ready to go in. I will rearrange the wiring so the rears are parallel 2ohm and they should see 50 watts each. That plus more power up front...75 watss each...ought to really wake things up. As soon as I get that sorted out I will be getting into the passenger fender to see about cramming a ten inch sub in there. The focals produce excellent mid bass.

I saved some money by buying them through ebay. Mazzine_hi_fi is the seller. They shipped from Italy and it took awhile but they arrived in good shape.

I drove the Mountain Loop Hwy, near Darrington, WA. Well, as much as I could - eventually hit a locked gate, due to the snow. Decided to detour down a couple NF roads, and finally hit something I couldn't get the 4Runner through. The snow was about 18" deep and packed so hard I could walk on it and only sink a couple inches. So, I ended up having to back down the road so I could turn around and this was where I got into trouble. I drifted out of my tracks, while reversing and ended up stuck. A 20 mile walk back to Darrington sounded pretty awful. Locker, A-Trac and 20 minutes of wiggling later, I finally got unstuck and turned around. Figured I'd had enough of the mountain snow for one day and drove over to Fidalgo Island and sat on the beach for a while.

And placed an order for some traction mats...

I've only gone out a handful of times and hardcore off-roaders seem to scoff at forest service roads, but I've found myself in some pretty stressful situations exploring out here solo. And when it's late afternoon and the sun is going down, it adds to the stress a good amount when you're just trying to do a day trip. Plus I'm a total off road newbie (no recovery gear) so I have no idea what I would do if I actually found myself in the shit out there away from everything.

Installed emblem black out kit...a pedal commander unit (say what you like, I dig it)...and a K&N filter.

Also received my AVS hood and window deflectors and a cheap (but fine for my needs) Rolla cargo basket. Waiting for my Cilajet and clear bra appointment before I put that stuff on.

Lastly, I got a shipping confirmation that my complete interior/exterior Aiden James lighting package is on the way.

Only other future mods might be a C4 Fab low pro winch bumper, sliders, skids and additional lighting...and perhaps a CAI and Borla exhaust (or heaven forbid, the elusive CARB approved Maggie).

Tried out Optimum No Rinse wash and wax. I think this is the stuff [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] recommended ages ago and I finally got around to it when a buddy of mine also recommended. Not bad for an hour’s work.

Yep. I've gotten to some pretty cool spots for getting good photos. Cascades feel a little more welcoming. The Olympics seem to have a lot less friendly people and coming across people that don't want you to be there or seemingly sketchy vagabonds and potential meth labs lol!
