I installed a TRD Skid Plate on my wife’s 2014 4Runner today. Told her it was her birthday present. She ain’t buying that. She knows that I was sick and tired of trying to fit the steel skid plate on after oil changes, because she had bent the shit out of it. I told her it’s like easy on, easy off lingerie.

Went to Cross Bar Ranch in Davis Oklahoma. Found mud, rocks, & climbs. Pretty good time except a wrong turn leading down an ATV trail & getting large pinstripes.

I hate ditch lights, I think they are a a eye sore and have limited useability, so with that said, I installed some crappy chinese made ditch lights that were lying around the house, and I cut up some black light bar cover (from the roof light bar) to keep it low key, and to keep johnny law from ticketing me. I think it turned out okay.

I just swapped out stock rims and tires for some SCS Stealth 6’s and 265/70/17 BF Goodrich KO2’s. My gas mileage went from 18-19 down to 15-16 mpg. I refused to believe my C rated KO2’s caused that big of a hit.

We did Sandstone Canyon. It wasn’t supposed to be this hot (97*) so I guess we just got lucky! I gotta say, we had fun. It wasn’t anything that I’d want to rush back and do, as far as a technical trail, but it was nice to get out into the desert and it was very pretty out there.

Bushing Maintenance on Upper Control Arms

My son and I replaced the bushings and it rides so nice now! They were beginning to complain quite a bit!

To be honest man, I haven't had a single issue with mounting it on the existing cross-bars. My only suggestion is to make sure you tighten up the cross-bar fasteners before putting it on. I actually replaced mine with ones from my local hardware store that make it easier to hand tighten.

Another option is to have the RTT clamp to the side rails. I haven't tried that myself but I do think it's an option. You would just mount the clamps longways. I hope that makes sense... haven't had enough coffee today. Simple answer, it works just fine on the cross-bars. I wheeled with it on the cross-bars and had zero issues.

Thanks! Love that this RTT can come off and be put back on so easily. I was debating taking the yakima mounts off, improvising my own home depot struts and everything. Glad I'll get to use the locking quick release mechanisms
