What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Any specific reason why? Towing?

US-58 Alt along Damascus to Norton VA, and US-23 north of there. Tired of it barely holding 60mph in 4th going up those mountains of eastern KY & TN and southwestern VA. When I do tow the boat on those roads means lots of time in 3rd gear, with an occasionally need for 2nd just to hold 50mph. I'm not trying to hold 70 up there, but the truck just doesn't have the power I'm after below 4000rpm when 2000ft or higher. The grades out there are no joke, a few of them are 8%.
Since I've already done some mods and don't want to start over with a GX instead, it's time to get some real power added to the 4Runner. I did consider the Magnuson, but if I'm spending that kind of money, might as well go for broke and do the URD Whipple kit. Though the URD Whipple isn't compatible with the aFe CAI and MAF Calibrator, so those will be going up for sale once I remove them from the truck.

Thought about the Ray10s but I like the angular nature of the SR8s (and the rays sold in 3 minutes).....they sit the same as stock + spider trax and dropping all that extra weight really seems to make a difference.

Man, Damascus, Norton... that's my family's neck of the woods. I can't imagine towing through those mountains. Wow! I can certainly see why you'd want to up the power.

Lately I've been doing a lot of experimenting with night photography and time lapse video. Three weeks ago I went out to the Campo Creek Viaduct, but the moon was nearly full, and the sky was partly cloudy. So I couldn't get the kind of night shots I really wanted.

I went back there Sunday night to try again. No moon, no clouds, lots of stars!

Nice! If you don't mind my asking, what camera body and iso settings are you using for the night sky photos?

I completely disconnected the aftermarket seat heaters. I was having trouble w/ the DS turning on and off intermittently. I disconnected it from the switch, but to no avail. Once I disconnect it from the passengers side and from all possible power sources, I'm golden. No more seat heater turning on when it's 90 degrees outside.

That was a fire waiting to happen. Factory warmers fail, aftermarket are even worse. Good call not using them.

I went back to the tire shop to get my KO2s rebalanced as expected...read several posts about that on this forum. One was 0.25 off, one 0.50, one 0.75 and one OK. Drove perfectly fine yesterday after the initial install, today was a disaster.

Found a place to fit this winch which has been residing in my office in a heavy brown box with WARN stamped on the side of it. I think it looks a little better in it's new aluminum white goodness. Thanks Hefty for helping on that!
