First and last time using Plasti dip-wasn't too impressed with the product. Hopefully it last longer than the advertised "6 months." I don't see the chrome emblems and letters anymore, so that makes me happy.

Crawled under it with an oxypropane torch, centerpunch, 7/64" drill bit, and a screw extractor, and extracted two broken-off 6mm bolts in the skid plate. Easier than I thought it would be.

Cool! I wanted to say i felt the same improvements. My 4runner SEEMS to climb the same hill with less effort. No improvements on mpg at all though. I'll have to pair this w/ a urd maf calibrator to see if it helps.

As far as battery. I'll put my vehicles on a battery tender overnight every other month. After each session, i can totally tell the engine starts stronger and easier.

The hill climbs definitely are better, and wide open throttle I can definitely feel it breathing better, I feel like the TRD piece creates a better seal and forces more air. Great little mod!

I also made an impulse buy of a $7 LED battery powered light. The position can be manipulated, but it stays put after adjustment. I used some velcro to attach it to the rear pillar.

I love those little lights and the magnet base is nice. I saw them at an “overland” trailer shop and bought a couple, at $15 each. Then I saw them on sale at HF for $4.99... Doh!

First oil change

Did my first oil change on it since taking ownership. Also added a fumoto valve for easier oil changes for the rest of its life.

PO (or more likely the Quik-E-Lube monkey the PO too it to) failed to re-install the access panel in the stock skid, so I'm going to have to get that replaced. I also could not get the drain valve on the oil filter cartridge to break free but I was pressed for time today and couldn't mess with it. Will get that freed up on the next oil change for sure.

Rather than fight with the crappy plastic filter housing, just upgrade to the OEM metal one. No idea why they used plastic on the 4R and Tacoma but used metal on the Camry and Prius.

That's an excellent call. Had that same metal housing on the wife's old Lexus ES350.

One question, is that one you linked a direct replacement? I just bought a case of the Toyota factory oil filters and wouldn't want to have to switch to a new filter.
