That's an excellent call. Had that same metal housing on the wife's old Lexus ES350.

One question, is that one you linked a direct replacement? I just bought a case of the Toyota factory oil filters and wouldn't want to have to switch to a new filter.

Yes however you do have to swap over the center post that the filter slides on to. The OEM one is a little taller than the one in the new metal one. It's a 10 second swap, they just unclip and clip right back in. Other than that, it used the exact same filter, o-ring, and removal tool.

Weekend plans to hit the OHV trails up in citrus county got rained out, so I hit a local spot with my new stumpjumper.

What rack is that? A 1Up? Did you go for the quick-rack or the heavy duty rack? I am thinking about picking up a 1Up or Kuat for my MTB and can't decide!

I worked on adding a pressure cutoff switch to my Smittybuilt 2781 air compressor. I also added the ARB tire repair kit to the mix.

Installed Bilsteins 5100 on all four corners.

37f/38r from floor. Or 21f/22r from center hub. 2" front 0.5" rear from floor gains. No more rubbing from 285/70R17s, wheel turned in reverse.

Test drive felt great but still needs aligned.

Two hours later (unrelated) I dislocated my ankle, and broke my tibia and fibula.

I put 5100s on set at .85. Can't see spending the money replacing decent tires.
When these wear out, it's going to 2.5/1.5 with pizza cutter Cooper Maxx.

Long day. Getting ready for our epic road and camping trip next week.
Finished up cleaning out the "pile of boxes in the office" and this young guy learned quite a bit. Wired up Rigid fogs, extreme LED 30" bar, Snomaster dual bin fridge/freezer, CTEK 250s smart charger and in dash monitor. Relocated some switches inside and cleaned it all up again. Teach your kids how to!

Busy 4Runner weekend:

-Had the guys at OEM+ Audio install their reference speaker upgrade. Subwoofer enclosure is awesome and the system sound is super clean.
-Installed Xenon Depot 5000K kit, LED fog light bulbs, and Osram high beam bulbs. This is how the 4Runner should have come from the factory.
-Went to Cleveland National Forest with the family for some light offroading and hiking
-Took advantage of the power rear window to haul a load of lumber to build a matchbox car ramp for the kiddo
-Rinsed the trail grime off

Absolutely love this truck.

New car detailing

Well, even tho she is pretty much brand new (just past 2k mi from 2 trips), I felt she deserved better than whatever the dealership did - after all, they are in the business of selling cars, not protecting them or displaying them at car shows. So over the past three days this is what I've been up to with her:

1. Wash.
2. Wash again to remove all wax etc.
3. Clay bar.
4. Coat 1 of Chem Guys JetSeal. Cold beverage or two. Wait overnight.
5. Coat 2 of Jetseal. Cold beverage or two. Wait overnight.
6. Get out flag and say some thank yous to my father and all the other
veterans who have made our country safe and free.
7. Coat 1 of Chem Guys Butter Wet wax.
8. Coat 2 of wax.
9. Coat of Chem Guys Extreme Detailer to cut down static.
10. Time for a cold beverage.

Baby is clean, smooth and pretty - just the way I like 'em!

Finally had some time to give the truck a long overdue hand wash.



I tried these Bugster sponge things I had laying around, they made a huge difference getting bug guts and all manner of grunge and grime off the truck with no damage to the paint. Available at your local Walmart for a couple bucks.
