What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Crazy how crappy the sheet metal is on these things. Guys just going with an upgraded battery even in the stock location are ripping she sheet metal under the hood. Not what I expect out of Toyota. Never seen this on any other vehicle I've ever owned and I've owned quite a few.

Put on my new sticker! And what a great place it is.....No, I didn't take the Runner down but plans have started for a possible run next year. Our good friends retired on the beach there and we went and spent some time in the sun, sea and sand!

Going back to my post from last year.

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...u-do-your-5th-gen-today-1717.html#post2730464

The Video In Motion (VIM) kit I installed last year that gives me HDMI access to my radio, went bad a few days ago. I had it for a full 1 year and I emailed the company (they were closed when I had a chance to test things). They are warrantying it out for me at no charge. Taking the radio out and putting it back together was only a few minutes. Very easy and simple to do.

I ordered new low beams. I have the Auxbeam F16 bulbs. It's 3000 lumens per bulb. Auxbeam has a new model out called the T1 at 3500 lumens per bulb. I was able to get it on a discount and it came out to $55 for the set. Can't wait for that to come in so I can drop them in!

Kustom 54 Lighting retrofitted some lights for the rig.

Now that is some excellent customer service!!

Fixed tire

Fixed annoying very small leak in right front tire (about 5 psi change in about 3 months). I could not locate it visually for the past year, and yesterday I finally found a rusted tiny nail between threads in KO2. Short visit to tire shop (this is my first time in Poland) fixed the problem.

It was very annoying as the pressure change was minimal and I was not sure if it was because of the winter or something. At one point during cold weather the TPS pupped up on my dash, what I measured about 20psi.
That is very low for my C-rated stock size KO2 which I'm normally running at 37psi. Do you know if it is possible to reprogram computer to pop tire pressure warning light at 32psi or so?

Started building sliders.
1.75”x .120” wall HREW. Just need to pick up the square tube and some plate to finish them up.

Added Some Tough Cross Rails

...OK...NOT today....but over the last few weeks.....cos time flies!...

...( seems like time flies even when ya aint havin fun!....ya notice that? )..:noidea:

...Anyway, I have plans for the roof that really didn't include a full rack up there...I have a Yakima roof-box already...but I wanted to add a small platform alongside of it to be able to access contents from the roof....( I have a Gobi-Ladder on order, and it will be here in a year or so? )...:noidea:

...So, I ordered the LFD Ruggedized rails from Josh over at Apex Overland...

...I gotta say....these things are Beasts!...I love 'em!...but there is a story that goes along with gettin them....

If ya haven't worked with Josh at Apex...he is a terrific guy....friendly, helpful, patient...willing to answer all questions, etc.....

...The rails arrived, and I was anxious to see them up on the OEM side-rails...but when I tried to fit them onto them...they were TOO Long?!...WTF?!

...Thats when I noticed the number'4' stamped into the supports....so I called Josh to tell him about it....At this point I wasn't even angry...just disappointed...

...Josh told me there must have been a mixup at LFD..and he would call them....and then get back to me...so I figured probably next day, if I was lucky....But...NO!....he called me back within the hour and confirmed my suspicions that I was sent the wrong version, and that LFD would be sending out the correct ones ASAP!

...Within the hour once again, I heard from Scott over at LFD, and he apologized profusely for the mistake and the lost time, and said the right ones were on their way to me already, plus fully-paid return labels for the wrong ones. Plus, they compensated me generously for the lost time.

...Now, the reason I even brought this up is NOT to point out the mistake, cos everyone has a bad day...but to comment on the way it was dealt with and corrected.

...Far too often in today's world, so very few individuals are willing to take responsibility for their own actions..same goes for large corporations...and Especially govt-officials!...When they screw up...they All make excuses, or worse, fail to acknowledge any culpability whatsoever. I'm tired of this, and it really pisses me off! The American public still never even got an apology for anyone in the administration after getting us into a long drawn-out war...where it tuned out there were no WMDs...which was the main reason we got into that war to begin with!...

...How many times when we have legitimate customer-complaints..we are told there is nuthin that can be done about it..or...thats just the way it is?..
THAT...is NOT the way to run a business! That's just pure BS!..and I will be the first to complain about something when it is a legitimate reason...but I will also be the first to compliment anyone for doing a job well done!

...That's why...Josh at Apex, and Scott at LFD...are two guys who need to be congratulated for outstanding customer-service! Both of them were presented with a situation...and both were highly proactive in solving the problem and making the customer happy again! Now, that should be the way business is Always done, but we all know far too well that aint the way the world works far too much of the time...sadly...so when it does work...I feel those good folks deserve a huge...ATTABOY!...:thumb3:

...If you're still reading this far...Thanks!....I am steppin down off my soapbox now...

This was last week, but I installed by Baja designs s8 light bar and the next day I went on a road trip to Colorado for the weekend. The s8 performed flawlessly and Colorado was beautiful. Also managed to get 29.7 mpg for about 15 minutes, personal best.

...This One Will Be Shorter-I Promise!

...OK...so I had originally intended to put my X-Bull track up on the ruggedized rails I bought....and so purchased the posts to hold them up there mounted onto the cross-rails with Maxtrax Mounting Pins:

https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.c...RMYYtZ_yQU6qGMaRDtan3IinfSzMYsAxoCqloQAvD_BwE

...I got these plus padlocks, and mounted them onto the ruggedized cross-rails, and they looked great up there, but because of the rail spacing needed for my Yakima skybox, I simply could not get the X-Bull tracks also mounted...so have given up on that idea....Heck!...the tracks come with a sturdy vinyl zippered bag anyway..so will stash them in the skybox....

...So, I am putting up the mounting-pins and padlocks for sale for anyone who needs them for their Maxtrax...and will sell them at a discounted price for anyone here who may be interested?

..If so, please lemme know, OK?..........Cheers!....
