Finally got the Torque app measuring my transmission Temps. Plan on Towing in a few weeks, so I'm pretty stoked I got it working! [emoji16]

Due to the weather, it's taken me two weeks to get my sliders prepped and painted. Finally finished on Thursday and found time today to get them installed. Really happy with them.

Got my hitch powdercoated bright red! No more sore shins.

Looks great but I’m betting someone’s shins will still fall victim to this red devil - even if you added flashing lights to it. The difference is that now, in addition to the stinging pain, as they lie on the ground grasping their leg they will be thinking “how did I not see that????”

Fender Liner Mod

I performed the "fender liner mod" after getting my 285 sized tires yesterday. Had to drill AND trim the fender liner to make it fit into the clip that holds it in place. Also had to trim off a tiny bit of the bumper. Pretty easy mod.

Holy smokes! Bummer! I would not have guessed that about the stock jack, either. I've got 255/75's, and have never tried my jack...

What pressure were you running. I think sidewall blowouts are often caused by heat, caused by too low pressure on the road. Had you aired down before going off road?

Please...TRY YOUR JACK... You don't want to on the side of the road not knowing. Anyway, I usually run 38psi, and I didn't air down, it was just a few quick hills to get it in 4wd, nothing major off road. It was 98% highway driving but it is a bit curvy coming down the back way to West Phoenix. I think it was probably a bit low psi and combined with the hill descent and a heat maybe that just put it over the top. But I should have known better and still brought my gear with me now matter what.

Dashcam Install

Wasn't sure how I felt about installing a dashcam until I recently got rear-ended last month. So I snagged a deal on Amazon for the Aukey DR02 dashcam for about $50. Not bad of a camera. Also bought a hardwire kit for a few bucks and now it is powered via ignition control. The idea is to set it and forget it. I like the fact it is very discreet. Camera is mounted next to rear view mirror mount, passenger side. From the driver's view, it is not within view. It hides behind the rear view mirror.

The dashcam did catch this "Mall Rated" 4Runner at a local mall making sure the curb was no obstacle - https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-rLS87ZV/0/c5ac8545/1280/i-rLS87ZV-1280.mp4

Took mine up a trail near Snoqualmie Pass, WA and got some amazing views of the ski resorts AND Mt. Rainier! One of the best views I've ever seen.

Had a blowout coming home from Prescott today. Took her out to exercise the 4wd and low gears etc on some trails on the way up; everything was fine and then headed to Prescott. Had some lunch and came back down to Phoenix.

On the way home we stopped at the store and pick up a few items and headed home; my wife who was driving then says that the tire pressure light came on; It's came on in the past so I wasn't overly concerned but kept my ear out for any noises etc. We travel down the highway for about 10 minutes at 68mph then the truck starts to get squirrly and then the thumping starts and my wife managed to pull it over just at the exit and make a safe stop.

So, I'm going to admit that I'm a dumb ass and never had practiced changing the spare; especially with the lift on with 33's. I get out the book and proceed to get everything together, it's about 108 out and I know this is going to take a while. I struggled with the jack etc and next thing I know a very kind person stopped to help, his name was Saul. We get it lifted and take off the blown out tire and then realized that the jack doesn't go high enough to put the spare on.

This was one of the things I had "Planned to do" but clearly I didn't try it out first and now I'm the dumb ass on the side of the road. So, found a few books to give it the extra 1" or so and managed to get the jack high enough to get the spare on.

I totally failed in preparedness and safety (we got lucky using the books) and have learned a valuable lesson.

So, my tires are fairly worn and was planning on replacing them this summer, they have 40k on them, in case anyone was wondering. Surprised it was a sidewall blowout.

Anyway, don't be like me and do your homework first and carry the proper equipment with you etc.

I realize everyone is different, but me personally, I would have pulled those tires 10,000 miles ago by the looks of them.

Also, were you trying to jack from the frame? The stock bottle jack should have plenty of room to lift by the axle. Stating the obvious, e-brake on and standing on level ground.

Went camping at Lake Lillooet, near Pemberton B.C. Really nice little spot, but man the mosquitos were horrible.

Also saw 3 bears on this trip and a ton of scat on the road. It really has me thinking about my food storage. What are you guys using in bear country?
