Sorry didn’t take many pics, made it out 3/4” birch ply and European adjustable cabinet hinges. The hinge plates through bolt to each other on the center bulk head and the hinges just clip on. The front doors open the opposite way via the back passenger doors. The top of the box has the fuzzy side peal and stick Velcro on all the flat surfaces so the doors don’t rattle. I was gonna carpet the doors but didn’t leave enough room.

A couple of small things. Painted the chrome badges on the wheels black. I just didn't like the chrome. Took a long time sanding the chrome! Some tiny corners there. Since the tinted 3rd brake light my son got me didn't have the right plug, I decided to tint the original myself. Lights are dimmer but still very visible.

Finally got around to installing the Morimoto Elite HID low beams and 2 Stroke high beams/DRLs. What a difference! I had recently installed Baja Squadrons for fogs and they really showed how pitiful the stock hallogens are.

Auto dimming dash lights

I wanted automatic night dimming dash lights as described in this thread:
Dear Toyota, please fix this in the next production year of the 4Runner

So I ordered a light control sensor from eBay for under $13, including shipping. I made sure it was from a US distribution center so it would ship quickly. It’s a Chinese knockoff, but it has the same part number as the Toyota OEM. 89121-50020. If you look on Toyota websites it’s listed for around $120. That’s nuts; it’s a simple photo sensor.

I carefully pried off the black plug on the front of the dash near the windshield. There’s a small electrical plug attached. Take it off and plug in the real sensor. I tested it before snapping it into the dash. With headlights on and the dimmer switch *not* clicked in the full bright position, by covering the sensor then shining a flashlight on it, I could demonstrate the light dimming action. Then I seated it fully into the dash.
Works well, I like it.

Installed front and rear sway bar bushings. Much flatter in the corners. Today is windy and on the highway I felt much less push from the wind. No more wandering in the lane. But I will add that I feel more from the road in the steering wheel, which is good but also bad. I'm not driving a sports car right?

For me, the rear poly bushings made a much bigger difference than the fronts did. The biggest reason I even bothered with the fronts is I went with the Prothane bushings which have a universal slotted mounting bracket. With my lift, that allowed me to adjust the sway bar forward to avoid contact with the spring rather than using the aluminum relocation brackets.

Got up planning on installing my suspension. Pre built 6120 up front set on 4, needed to be 6. My spring compressor did not work, so suspension another day.

. Installed ARB diff breather. Yeah would have been easier if I did the lift first but doable without a lift.

Installed left and right Baja S2 lights under Rhino Pioneer backbone. Tinted lens light gray, all hardware (theft resistant SS) powder coated matte black by PCbolts.com, all combined very stealthily combined. I will post pics later. Left and right independent on Switch Pros. Ran 14g wires down top rain gutter seals and windshield groove, like it was meant to be.

Wired my ARB single compressor to Switch Pros as well. With just a compressor and no lockers it was very easy.

Grilling and drinking an Old Fashioned now!
