What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Got a ceramic tint job 5% all around and 70% windshield. I am absolutely blown away by the performance of this ceramic tint. It sheds the Texas heat like nobodies business its actually chilly in the car in direct sun. Highly recommend it.

How did you get the windshield tinted? I'm in Texas as well and I thought it was illegal. You put the 5% on the windows that were factory tinted already but what about the front windows?

A little of both. I installed the WDH first and then added the bags for our Florida trip. I adjusted the WDH with an empty load in the 4Runner but after I loaded up the cargo area with essentials is when I decided I needed the bags to make up for the weight/height difference. The first pic is no cargo, no WDH or bags and the second pic is fully loaded with WDH and bags.

Which R-Pod is that? We're looking at the 195 right now. Which air bags did you use?

It’s a RP190, I went with the airlift 1000 bags.

I have a prescription for my tint from a chronic dry eye condition that makes me sensitive to light. I have 70% on the windshield and 5% on all other windows. As far as how I just told the tint shop I wanted the windshield tinted it was a service they offered.

Spent the day at the ORV Park. Got a chance to test out the crawl control and the multi terrain select. So Glad the temp was in the sub 90s.

On the mountainside above his property is an abandoned open pit quarry, with a rough trail up the mountain. Backed up to the edge of the quarry, opened the liftgate. Nice view down into the valley. Take turns throwing clays for each other to shoot with our shotguns (chukar and pheasant season coming next month). Go a few rounds, sit on the rear shelf/bumper, drink a bottle of beer and shoot the breeze. Go for more rounds with the guns, have another beer. Nice way to spend a couple hours.

On the way back down from the quarry, I decided to push the button for the downhill crawl control button. Weird. Noisy. Unnerving. Inconsistant. After several decades of off roading, I think I have this stuff down pat and can do better myself instead of letting the 4Runner do it for me.

Pulled and painted all the factory skid plates. Power washed the underside. Need to pull the bumper cover off in the morning and paint the plasti dip valence.

Came out from work today and started her up and the check engine light and trac control lights kept blaring at me.
Guess I’ll do some reading and try to figure it out tomorrow.

Fluid change and some rust work

Got up early and changed the oil, front diff, rear diff, and transfer case oil today. I also did some wire brush and fluid film on the under bits. Finished it off with a tire rotation and she’s ready for many more miles!

How's the windshield tint driving at night? Any issues?

70% ceramic front windshield tint is not like the typical tint ppl are used to it’s more to block off the UV rays. You cant even tell it’s tinted at all so to answe the visibility question it’s fine same as with no tint visibility wise at 70% ceramic window tint

Did the first oil change with Amsoil SS 0W-20 and OEM filter since purchasing as a used car on Memorial Day. Started late because it was a hot day.

I purchased the aluminum oil filter housing and thankfully I did. The Runner was serviced at the dealership and boy they’re terrible! They crossed-threaded one skid plate bolt and broke a bolt holding the plastic piece bolted to the skid plate. They also overnighted the plastic oil filter housing. It was so tight the 64mm oil wrench slipped and rounded/cracked the plastic housing. I had to use extra large pliers to loosen the damn thing. I ran to Lowe’s and picked up a tap & die plus bolts.

All done 3 hours later! So glad I always plan for the worst when I work on my cars

No issues at all. It's barely even any tint just enough to stop the heat and take the glare out. Look for a tint shop that uses Xpel brand ceramic tint if your interested.

Could be your gas cap. My CEL and same dashlights came on a while ago and ODBC reader code indicated gas cap. Replaced gas cap and that cleared the lights.

Windshield tint may be illegal in many states, but shops will install it with a warning and maybe an offer for free removal.
It can be a problem if your state requires an inspection sticker or if a service dept. puts a sticker on it.
Car wash window cleaners with ammonia may damage it.

I have it on the T4 and a new Sienna, it really helps. Did the moon roofs too, but one shade darker.
