I like it. The only thing that is a con: is that sometimes it doesn't connect right away at start up, and I lose signal when i enter underground garages.

I had the same issue with my exhaust, ended up having to cut it, and I only had like 10K miles
Were you able to get by with just cutting the bolt, or did you have to cut the pipe? I'm really trying to avoid ruining the factory exhaust, if possible. Mine is going to be at Toyota for the week because of the Fox shocks, so I may just have them swap the exhaust while it's there. I really hate having someone else do my work, but having a toddler that I already see less than I'd like because of work makes it hard to justify spending that time in the garage.

I ended up cutting the stock piping. I always save my stock parts, but this thing just gave us such a pain that the easiest solution was cutting the damn thing
I had my sawzall in hand and then walked away. Thank you for the feedback, though. I was beginning to think I had forgotten how to turn a wrench.
Also, working alone I generally try to be as conservative as possible. I’ve had to grab a rental car in the past waiting for parts that I messed up during mods/maintenance. Not sure if Toyota parts are more readily available than Audi, though.

I ended up cutting the old exhaust due to a seized bolt on the rear section, but it’d probably just end up sitting in my parts bin for years anyway.
Initial impressions: the combination does wake up the 4.0 a decent amount. I think the sound is nice and mild. I was skeptical because of the mixed reviews on here, but couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I think there’s still enough restriction from the catalytic converters to keep the noise down.
Exhaust took me about 2 hours from prep through cleanup and the intake took about 3 hours. Intake would have been faster but one of the bolts holding the box to the firewall snapped and I slipped my blade cutting the wire loom and caught my finger almost to the bone. Luckily I missed the vein, so I was able to clean and butterfly it closed and keep going. Also, 5/32 vacuum hose is too small. Definitely needed the metric 4mm. Luckily I had some hose laying around from my home brew equipment that I could slap in to make the 1 mile drive to autozone.

Well... I tried to order some new lights.
Sorry to jump in the thread but I think I made a mistake. I was ordering stuff for my 2020 T4R and I ordered some HIDs and LEDs. 9005 LEDS for high and HIDS for low. Is this a common setup to mix up the lights like that? Or do I need to return and get matching. Will send what I purchased below. Thanks!

I had the exact same set up before I swapped to complete LED headlight replacements. That is a excellent set up! Not many people get 50w which is understandable but I enjoyed it! Light up the road! Enjoy.
Ok, I was just worried that it wasn’t good to mix and match HIDs and LEDs. I’m assuming both of these are pure white hopefully! Any recommendations for a cheap set? I have a buddy who wants a cheaper alternative that’s still good. Need to get some Fogs as well if you have any recommendations.

Added factory crossbars this afternoon. Easy peasy. Had them on in about five minutes after I gingerly removed the rear end caps. Hadn’t taken those off and didn’t want to break anything.
$140+tax. I’d read you could mail order them cheaper from a dealer in New England. But after shipping costs, holiday delays, etc., it was just as easy to pop down to the dealership and buy them across the counter.

Just installed the Borla S Type exhaust into the 2016 4Runner limited.
Few tips:
Instructions say 15mm socket - wrong. It’s 14mm.
The screws near the rear axle are IMPOSSIBLE to take off, I don’t know if it’s because of the rust or if they just welded it on the other side but it took a cutting torch to heat the screws enough to take off. (Didn’t want to ruin the factory exhaust but just cutting it off)
Take the heat shield off near the rear axle, super easy to snake out the tubing.
Overall it took 4 hours, a cutting torch, a ton of penetrating spray and WD40. Haven’t broken the exhaust in but already notice a nice growl coming from it and can feel a little bit of power. I have it paired with a K&N CAI so cant wait to see the results in a few months once it’s broken in.

Decent start. Can’t wait to get this thing done. Very happy with this Coastal Offroad kit so far. Very precise cuts have made it pretty easy. Still have to get a good bead all around and put the front bottom plate and center hoop on. And paint of course. Will post when finished.
