Well, today I went though and re-tightened and torqued some nuts and bolts... Not all that interesting...
But the reason for that was because _yesterday_ I went on a great shake-down drive.
We went on a loop from Prescott, AZ, and back. But the interesting part was the ~80 miles of mostly forest service road from Cherry AZ through Mingus Mountain up to Jerome AZ, then on to Perkinsville and over to Chino Valley. A mix of different and interesting dirt driving. A combination of sandy, slow rocky, fast, up and down, etc. It was complete with beautiful scenery, clouds from the monsoon rains rolling in, smoke from a fire in the distance, and a great stop for a picnic in the middle.
One of the really interesting parts was driving on what both Google maps, and the cars navigation system indicated was one piece of Forest Service Road 132. It turned out to be the very sandy wash that paralleled the actual FS road. So not only was driving in the sand a lot of fun, but then there was the challenge of getting out of the wash, going up an 8 foot loose dirt embankment.
This was a time when I completely understood why a front-locker would be helpful. But it turned out that multi-terrain button actually makes a difference! Without it, I wound up with one wheel spinning, but with it, we were able to make it up and over. Sorry - no video of that bit of excitement.
But here are some pictures from other parts of the adventure:
