Ugh.... well keep an eye on them. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.
My powerstop big wheel/ towing pads & rotors have perfomed much better and lasted much longer.

I’ve been using Akebono pads since forever. That’s what was recommended on this site. Never had a problem.
Maybe the non stock Akebonos were the culprit?
Is there a thread on this or something?
First I’m hearing of it.

Not all today, but within the last 4 days:
Retired the Predator steps. Installed RSG sliders.
Installed KJTO driver’s side grab handle.
Replaced folding spring loaded grab handle over the driver’s door with an FJ grab handle.

I looked my orders up. These are the exact ones I ordered in 2015. I think I’ve put 100,000 miles on my vehicle since then? I don’t think I’ve swapped pads. Is that possible?
No problems and I check them every spring and fall probably. I grease the springs a lot.

I have a TRD skid from CTH and I must not have read the install directions very carefully or something. I had been hearing a clunk or hollow rattle every once in a while (very apparent over uneven pavement or railroad tracks) so I was first convinced that it was my sway bar bushings or end links. I bought new Whiteline bushings and OCD end links to swap them out and see if that fixed it. I ended up breaking a weld nut on one of the sway bar brackets so I drove around without the sway bar for a couple of weeks and still heard the noise. I then took the 4runner to my local shop to have them check it out. They thought that maybe it was my SPC upper control arms that could be the culprit because they saw a bit of play. From what I've read, it sounds like a bit of play is normal for these. I asked them to torque the lower control arms to see if that helped. It did actually seem to help but I think that's because the skid plate was removed and reinstalled so the fitment probably changed a bit. I finally got around to adding a rivnut in place of my broken weld nut so I could reinstall my sway bar. When I got the sway bar back on I drove around before reinstalling the skid plate again and it was quiet. No clunks or rattles. I drove to the hardware store and picked up some longer stainless spacers and added them to the front of the skid plate and that fixed it. Hopefully your clunk is as simple as mine was. If I would have started with the skid plate I would have saved some time and money!

Over the past four days and three nights: Drove just under 800 miles over very rural roads in northern Nevada, southeastern Oregon and northeastern California. Stayed all three nights in a 1908 hotel. Visited good friends. Saw great scenery. Spent time in wetlands watching wildlife. Ate good food. Spent a lot of money on gas - gas prices between $5.51 (at home) to $6.79. Drove a total of 17 hours, got 21.7 miles per gallon, the best I’ve ever seen on this truck. Mainly because of the lonely roads I stayed under speed limits and just moseyed along. It was a nice relaxing getaway.

the pads i ordered. Fronts are not installed yet. It's the wife's daily, she said it feels a bit better already, i imagine once the fronts go on itll make a decent difference. maybe stainless lines are next

Had my brakes redone at our Toyota dealership, and now there's an annoying squeel for a bit that goes away after some driving, never had that before. Bummer.

It's probably the brake backing plate contacting the rotor. Take it back to them.

Not today but over the last week or so. TSO bumper, ExtremeLED light bar, Ironman winch, Lasfit LED headlights and repainted and reinstalled Avid Offroad sliders.
