I miss having a volume knob and every once in a while the GPS 3D calibration has to be reset. This seems to be common problem with Apple Car play and aftermarket GPS antennas. Make sure to upgrade the firmware when you get it, the Apple Carplay changed for the better with Firmware update 1.70(ish). i think the the latest one is 3.0. Just update via USB, skip the wireless update via phone, its never worked for me or anyone on Reddit.

I feel the need to overcompensate!!!

Here is my logic to my purchase:

1. Tired of hearing that its not long enough that they cant hear me transmit.
2. tired of hearing that its not the size that matters, its where you place it.
3. Other people have cool nicknames that start with "fire...", mine starts with "ghost.."
4. I heard that if you purchase this australian guys want to do me and australian girls want to be me.
5. trying to start a career on PH and OnlyFans.
6. cheaper than plastic surgery.
7. cheaper than importing a 76 land cruiser from australia.
8. It just looks plain cool.

42 inch 6.6 dB GMRS antenna, styled after the Aussie/outback GME antenna, and with same build quality.

I can't mount it yet since I'm waiting for a mount to arrive for my bumper hoops. It is not recommended to mount this directly to sheet metal due to weight and size.

Update 1: the antenna is damaged. If you look at bottom of the pic, there is a kink in the wiring due to UPS. Upon closer inspection, the wiring is frayed. Waiting for RMA from the company.

update 2: working with the company to get it fixed.

This looks like the CB antennas I see on Hilux and other truck in Sydney. They’re pretty beefy. Most of the trucks I’ve seen there have them mounted on the front bumper and almost all of them have steel bumpers. If you plan to do any off roading there or long range driving it’s almost a must to protect your vehicles from Kangaroos.

i bought it cuz it looked cool (love the aussie influence on overland vehicles) and is constructed similarly to the popular GME brand in Australia.

On another note:

The damage to the coax cable was due to UPS and not the manufacture. It looks like UPS used my package as a baseball bat, while in transit. I hope the seller will make it right.

Problem with this maker, is this antenna is made to order by a member in another forum. I reached out to him and he was initially responsive, but stop responding mid conversation. I hope he hasn't ghosted me, so i'll give him til monday to resolve this issue or its CC charge back time. This is also why, i haven't stated who the maker is yet. I want to give him the weekend to resolve this. This antenna wasn't cheap, it cost more than my radio, lol.

GME antenna's need to be tuned to the more commonly used USA frequencies in order for them to work. This route is way more expensive if you don't know how to tune antenna's (i have no clue about this voodoo science), because you are paying for the GME brand name, and then paying for additional tuning services (if you can't DIY it yourself).

For me its cheaper to have someone build and tune a antenna for me, as long as they are using the GME brand antenna as their baseline for build quality.

I just hope the maker delivers on my warrantee claim.

I bought a white Firestick in 1978/79 for my K5 Blazer for reasons, 1,2 & 8.
Mounted on driver’s side on the rear of the bed. Man, do I wish I still had this truck.

adjust preload on the kangzzzz, cut out some steel to make small spacers for the Duro bumps up front. temp fix until i get a plan for long travel. FWIW 285's do actually rub if you really run your sh1t hard. fender liners are about worn thru from full compression at high speeds lol.

i have our magnetic antennae on a 1/8" plate bolted to two cross bars on the prinsu rack. range is amazing. i work as a relay when in the middle of a big group stretched out lol. or like normal, i'm a good "sweep" running the back as i can actually hear the front of the group.

GMRS is a different animal. It’s much longer range and much clearer.

I’m running a Midland 50w GMRS unit with their “Ghost” antenna and its fantastic. (the other antenna is for the Wilson WeBoost Cell booster, also excellent).

The NMO antenna mounts use an o-ring at their base, then we used a bead of silicone. I actually had the antennas mounted by a local shop that outfits police & fire vehicles. They do it all day and know the best way. I didn’t watch the holes get drilled lol.
