Got the Victory gas tank skid in on Friday and got it installed last night. I ordered it mid-March. Call it 8 weeks or so. Easy install. The OE one took a few hits last time out and is horribly thin. Better to replace it before it's an issue and Victory had the tax sale.

I like that it has good front protection. IIRC, the older RCI tank skid was low up front and some users complained about it. Is this steel or aluminum?

airbag recall done by dealer now fixing there mistakes

horn didn't work after air bag recall done by dealer. They then wanted 170 just to look at it . oh hell no not after it was fine before recall.

diagnosed and research= clock spring bad when horn won't work going straight but will sound when steering wheel turned left or right.
800 + OEM part I had a heart attack
found " clock spring experts" San Antonio tx. they guaranteed 100% fit or money back. and in same town I'm in
GUYS it's been 3 weeks now with no refund, not sent correct clock spring and they don't allow phone calls or me to go in person.. now guessing angle sensor needed now possibly bad.
I've been without vehicle 3 weeks now do to these guys mistake.
I am a rookie and now gonna become pro. I ordered part that was labeled a match from there website remove angle sensor from original and install ..putting back together 2 main connectors Airbag and CMC ECU ports wouldn't click in. I thought I wasn't putting it in right.without full connection guessing set sensor off when I put back together
airbag VSC and power steering lights now on! put back original airbag light went off but VSC and power steering lights still remain on
so attempt to contact the "experts"
guy told me sorry your emails in my spam 1week later only to tell me I ruined it putting it in or I forgot to plug something and that's reason not working. no sir!!! they sent wrong model so
sent pics of items side by side #s wrong and differences still no refund or spring or now sensor.
HELP....Anyone help with aftermarket part that worked for 2012sr5 ? and where to get repair manuals ?
trying to fix this but bought 2 scanners wouldn't read or scanner software wouldn't work and now battery seems to be part of the issue not cheap guys but 800 in already and truck is worse off than just getting OEM and took experts word.
now I refuse to give up and gonna fix this. just now on budget

It's steel. I honestly didn't notice until you said it about the better front protection on the Victory vs. the RCI. Had to look at the RCI really close to see it, but you're absolutely right. The Victory definitely covers the front more, especially on the inside front. I've always been partial to Victory and JCR, their Jeep parts side, so I tend to gravitate towards them anyway. I've run a lot of their parts over the years.

I acquired factory Trail roof rails for my 13 Trail and went back to stock from a full length rack. I forgot how much sky you can see through the sun roof!

I also deleted my center aux light and went down to the striker 170 size on the remaining 2. Still putting out an intense amount of light. I’m happy.

It’s great to simplify and get back to basics sometimes.

Just did a few small mods as I am still waiting for my Victory 4x4 bumper to come. Lasfit led reverse lights, made a bracket and mounted my Auxbeam to the dash mount and wrapped that silver passenger valance to something darker so it didn't stand out as much.

Made some new headlights. DonÂ’t care for the ricey looking options out there, so I made my own. Amazon trail edition lights, retrofit in some HID projectors from TRS. Came out pretty good for a $500 project.

TALE OF WOE:

I (we) had the fluids on our 2019 Toyota 4Runner checked and topped off and Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Wenatchee. We left on 5/5/2023 for a two-week trip to visit several ailing relatives and friends in SoCal and AZ. We got as far as Hwy 395 between Lakeview, OR and Alturas, CA when the drive-train started to slip and then quit working altogether. No cell service (of course) but the locals were friendly and drove my wife to where there was cell service. The driver who picked her up alongside the road knew someone with a tow truck who agreed to come get us. He said there was no-one who he felt would be qualified to do the repairs and recommended we go to a dealer in Klamath Falls (Lithia Toyota-100+ miles away). We arrived just before they closed (~4:30 PM) and they accepted the vehicle. Ther only auto rental was closed (being Saturday), so we got a cab to a hotel and tried to re-book our reservations=we were unable to do so and the loss accrued to be $500+. Two days later, we were informed that the "last servicer" (Valvoline in Wenatchee) failed to tighten the drain plug and all the differential fluid drained out, resulting in a "trashed differential". Since it was not caused by a Toyota technician, it was not covered by our 100,000-mile power train warranty. Estimated cost to us: $5700.00!! Two days more and we were told that the axle had actually welded to the gears and could not be removed-to the tune of an additional $1400 dollars in repair. We are now waiting to confirm that (1) Auto Club will cover the 25 mile tow to Alturas, as well as the 100 mile tow to Klamath Falls, (2) when our car will be ready (erstimated to be 1 or 2 weeks or more), (3) what it will cost for a rental to return to Klamath Falls to pick it up, when it is ready.

Correction: It was Valvoline in East Wenatchee

To return to Klamath Falls will likely cost us about an additional $1000.00 to rent a car, get rooms, pay for gas, etc.

It was interesting: While at the rental place I was waiting (in a snowstorm) while my wife got our rental. I was talking to a retired Army guy about our service experiences and I told him what happened. His reaction was interesting: he said 4Runners just don't have things like that happened.

Well:
1) If we had a dealer perform the maintenance, it would have been covered by the 100,000 mile warranty Cry::Cry::Cry::Cry.
2)Still would have to pay someone to do the work and there were no local shops (in Alturas) to do the work and few in Klamath Falls. Plus the time and effort to locate someone AND have it towed (we already have a 125-130 mile tow that Auto Club will likely only cover part of!). If we have a mechanic we trust do it, we have to pay to have it towed 460+ miles back home and additional delay while my mechanic finds a used unit. The dealer has located one with only 18K miles on it (front end collision).
3) Valvoline in Wenatchee has contacted us to see about settling a complaint (I am using social media to put pressure on them).
4) This way the repairs would be done to Toyota standards and likely will fall under the warranty for future work.
