Decided to retire my old bajarack flat rack with a Sherpa Crestone rack. I had the bajarack for 6 years and got it second hand so it was looking pretty rough. It still functioned great but had lots of surface rust and didn't feel like putting in the work to refinish it.

Really enjoyed the no-rack look.

Bolted a rotopax universal mount and 4 gal tank to the oem crossbars. Nice and low. I plan on buying a 2 gallon tank for when I take out the dirtbike.

I was concerned with that too, especially since I bought the tank used. But no issues. I filled it up with water and it’s been up there for the past couple days to test it out.

had to use my dremel to cut a rusted stud/stuck bolt in a hard to reach spot for one of my heat shields. I was adding big fender washers on a few of the shields/studs. was way easier than I thought (dremel 456 metal cutting blades for the win. cut right through the stud and nut). was happy about that since I fought with that bolt for about an hour on the weekend. so called it a day and went back inside :reddance:

I’ve thought about getting one in black. I like the idea of the oil drain access without having to remove the skid. Is that pic from Gleghorn?

What I don’t understand is that Toyota made the Tacoma skid plate with an oil drain access but not one for the 4Runner. What’s up with that?

It's basically a Gobi clone (but still somewhat different) I bought from a fabricator guy through OfferUp here in Los Angeles. He pretty much fabricates out of his house. I was (and still am) very impressed with the craftsmanship for the price ($700) and how well it lined up when it was mounted on the roof. Would definitely recommend the guy.

Switched from grey trd wheels back to sr5 wheels. Got tired of the dark wheels. I’m going for the oem plus look. Might even put the silver roof bars on.

Replaced the rear brake pads and flushed the rear brake system on the 2014 SR5. Did this before work (from home) and it took me an hour. Wife’s maintenance log, if accurate, suggests that I last replaced the rear pads 120K miles ago. Pads had some meat left but were worn past the center groove. Truck has 341K miles on it and heads back to Montana next week.

Note sure yet. The finish on them is ruined though. Not sure what happened but they are extremely faded and have bad water spots.

Did my first oil change since putting the RCI skids on. Fumoto + RCI engine skid is a perfect combo. One issue I did have is that the oil filter drain plug would not come out. It just turned the whole filter out. And even trying to take it off on the bench was useless… felt like I was going to break the filter housing. So I guess I’ll just have to deal with an environmental disaster every time I do an oil change
