What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

This is more along the lines of what my 4Runner did to me this weekend . . .

I have the DrKdss PCK also. Curious to why your bump stops are so close to your axle. Maybe I’m missing something, but your rear axle articulation seems limited even if your bump stops compress a lot.

I figured someone would notice. I'm not too ecstatic on the setup but I'm running the dobinson's long travel (extended travel) rear shocks. Based on the up travel left on the shocks, I had to stack the toytec spacer on top of the timbrens to prevent them from bottoming out. Based on the timbren's compression of 2.25", it's about a 4.75" bumpstop. Not ideal, I'll probably switch back to their standard length shock since I don't want to run more lift in the rear than I already am to gain more up travel with these shocks.

Got back from a 10 day trip to southern Oregon and back to San Diego. Did some off-roading, camping, snow driving, and a whole lot of highway miles. Car did good but I think I’m going to lower the front end a tad and get a tire balance. Had some vibrations and lots of wandering on the windy sections of highway. Also I got 16.8 MPGs across the 2356 miles travelled. I would be happier if I got 17.5. Next year I’ll probably move from these 285 M/Ts to a A/T.

That’s some good down travel. Do you have true long travel rears? If so, I’m guessing you have extended brake lines and limiter straps. I run 4 1/4” Durobumps without spacers on a 3” Radflo extended travel setup. Not a long travel. Here’s mine. I could’ve gone a little more. Works nice off road.

Opened the hood only to get rained on by dog food kibble, trapped behind the rubber strip under the forward edge of the hood. Mice. Inspection found no nests nor damaged wiring. Sprayed peppermint oil all over the engine compartment.

Went back to the classic TRD skidplate.

Traded my buddy for his OEM TRD skidplate + RCI integration plate for my RCI skidplate. My bumper left my ac condenser exposed, and after spending a ton of money on filler plates that don't fit, I had to go back to the tRD skidplate.

I then bought a CTH knockoff version to give it a try. I am pleasantly suprised by it. i havent decided if I am going to sell one of them.

Sh*t looks good buddy, either way.
I checkd out your build link
Killer 4R my friend

its worth it. I have both the OEM and the CTH skids and quality is definitely there for the price. The OEM skidplate is now a wall hanger.

Right now its dirt cheap. I think %15 percent off black friday and a 7% coupon i used, with free shipping.

Back to pictures: putting in work on my buddy's truck (RCI skidplate + Ok expedition filler plate + SSO non-TRD slimline bumper) that I traded skid plates with.

shouldve rotated his tires and aligned it instead:lol:

Very nice on the trip. What is your front set at now? I'm putting on a set of 6112's in a couple of weeks and trying to decide what I want it set.

Also are those rotopacks on your roof? If so any leakage?

Thanks

oops. in my defence. I tested the water before but when I went to cross it just swallowed me up at that spot. passenger side wheels are on on ground but too much mud to get me out. that is a steep drop off. tried to work it loose but kept getting sucked farther into the middle

I replaced the Nitto Terra Grapplers that came on my 2021 yesterday with a set of Falken Wildpeaks based upon the recommendations of this board. The Nitto's only had roughly 20k on them but were absolutely terrifying in the rain and wore extremely poorly. It was bad enough that I honestly think I might have had a bad batch or something. Drove to work today in an absolute downpour and the truck seemed so planted that I was actually shocked at the difference.

My 6112s are set to 7/5 which is maxed out. I have the older model with less clip settings. 7/5 only gave me 2” of lift but I guess it’s because I have steel skids and sliders. I ended up putting 3/8” spacers on top of the 6112s which gave me 2.5” total lift but my ride quality dropped pretty dramatically which I wasn’t expecting. I plan on removing them and staying with just a 2” lift.

And yes it’s a rotopax 4 gal. No leaks. I didn’t keep gas in it full time though. Only when I was heading out to go camping.

I wasn’t going to click “Like” for this. Was wondering how much damage you may have had. I think you may have been lucky with the front end up and out and the vehicle sideways a bit. I’m hoping you had the extended diff breathers into the engine compartment? Any water through the doors?

Nope, they are garbage. I had the same experience with Terra Grapplers on my previous Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Hope you got an alignment as well.

I don't have any diff breathers. I replaced the battery and all my fuses are in tact. did a MAF cleaning anyway and replaced engine air filter. the truck seems to be running fine. it started right up after spending 3 hrs in that puddle and I drove home 45 minutes on the highway without issue. I spent hours and hours wet/dry vacuuming and cleaning the carpets and took off the drivers side door panels as well. the rear driver side carpet has a bit more drying to do but I've been leaving the windows open to air dry - seems to be working. since the water wasn't salt water I am hoping everything is fine and with the cooler temps any moisture in the carpet can escape and not turn into mold

strangely enough my drivers side keyless entry touch sensor on the door stopped working. it was a bit finicky before so could just be coincidence. all the electronics seem to be working aside from my drivers handle.

Sounds like you got lucky. Time to change all your fluids, lube everything, and fluid film the undercarriage for those Canadian winters.

Just to share how quick and easy it is to check the weight of your 4runner -

Youtube Link -
How heavy is my 4Runner? Stop guessing. CAT scales to the rescue. - YouTube

Thank-you
This is great

Quick hack I've been using this year to approximately weigh my 4R is going to the transfer station (dump). Drive in your Runner at the weight level you desire to know, load just the garbage you're dumping, then when you leave your weight is showing at the scale - that's how you pay.
$10CAD, not free but not bad. Probably a decently accurate reading.
