Turkey Day exploring

My wife and I decided to do some exploring on Thanksgiving day. Our first Thanksgiving without any of the kids, friends, or other family. Forester is an extinct town in Scott County, Arkansas. Forester was founded in 1930 as a sawmill company town owned by the Caddo River Lumber Company. It was named after Charles Forrester, a local businessman. A post office called Forester was established in 1930 and remained in operation until 1953.

After our second stop, I noticed a tire was low. Decided to head towards the blacktop, and address it there. While driving on the forest road, I noticed a second tire was low. Both tires were now losing air, and quickly. We made it to a main road and headed toward the closest town. Found a gas station with air. Changed one tire, filled the other full, and headed home. Thankfully, we made it home. Onboard air is now a priority.

Nothing crazy like some of these builds. Just some mild, cookie cutter stuff. Was planning on taking it somewhat slow but with everything being on sale right now, decided to just go for it. TRD Pro wheels, Falken Wildpeaks and a Sherpa Sport all installed in less than 24 hours. Mild lift is next.

Got festive… Then drove out to Anza borrego for a night. Got to mob down a few flowy sand trails. Truck did great.

Went to this spot. Also offroaded a horribly washed out road along a cliff along the border. Was so bad I was leaning over the cliff on 3 wheels, and my inner wheel had the metaltech long travel max droop and still a foot off the ground.

Sounds like you got lucky. Time to change all your fluids, lube everything, and fluid film the undercarriage for those Canadian winters.
I second this but I would take it a step further. When you drain your fluids check for water in it. If you do, this is a sign of damage to a seal or gasket and I would replace it ASAP. If your differential or transmission was hot when it hit the cold water, the quick temperatures change can cause a vacuum and suck water in through the seals/gasket thus damaging it. Also if there is water in the fluid I would change it twice. After the first change drive it a couple of hundred miles then change it again to make sure you get all the water out.

I crossed a deep river once in my HMMWV and my breather tube to the transmission was damage and water was sucked in through the seal. Also 2 of my 4 wheel hub seals also failed. I had to change everything. It was a mess.
You may also want to check your CV boots too just to be safe.

Also, if your carpet got water damage I would just replace it. My wife’s car filled up with water once because of a faulty front windshield replacement. The window repair guy took everything out and dried it but mold still got in anyway and we ended up replacing it. Thankfully insurance covered it. When you do replace the carpet try to wait a day or two before putting the new one in to make sure it’s completely dry and wipe any mold spots down with bleach.

Last I would suggest if you’re going to do any future off-roading that you invest in a winch.

Anyway, I’m glad to hear there wasn’t any major damage.

Nope, they are garbage. I had the same experience with Terra Grapplers on my previous Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Hope you got an alignment as well.
I’ll also give a thumbs down on the Nitto Terra Grapplers. After they wear down just a little they slid in the rain when making turns. I got rid of them ASAP and replaced them with BFG KO2. I know some say the KO2s have poor wet performance but I’ve had KO2s on my SUVs since they first came out and never had an issue.

Where did you get the Toyota decal on your roof rail?
Hey bud, I searched my channels for quite a long time, I really try to help folks who inquire about my build - and its absurd number of decals lol.
These decals are off Etsy.
Unfortunately, the shop has closed and they are unavailable anywhere I've looked.
Sorry

I think replacing the carpet is where I draw the line with this 4runner (it's getting old and highish mileage). mold and mildew just not worth dealing with for me. I think I have been able to successfully dry it out . wet vac, carpet clean, space heater running constantly and very dry and cool weather here lately. I'm hoping this is enough to stop any mold growth. I don't have a damp smell but I also didn't get much water in there.

Before & After Lift & Tires

Finally done with this lift project. Went with Eibach and love the ride. Its mostly a daily driver. Got the wheels on sale.

I had to do some trimming on the front fenders and push the liners forward.

The key to getting the wheels positioned was finding someone willing to work with me to dial in the alignment. The first shop had no clue how to adjust the SPC UCA's.

Thanks to the guys at Creamery Tire for helping me with tire fitment!

I am new to the 4Runner world, and I've only ever owned sportscars and sedans - so it is a real treat there is such a community around the 4Runner!

I just ordered some RRW 17x8.5 with a -12 offset, and I am looking at tire fitment. Leaning towards 'Pizza Cutters' but worried about rubbing. Anyone run 255/75R17s on 17x8.5s with -12 offset on stock ORP suspension?

The -12 will create some rubbing even with the 255. I have 285/70-17’s on 17 x 8.5 x 0 degree offset wheels, lift, aftermarket UCA’s at 3.7 degrees of caster, fender liner pushed forward and still have a very slight rub when articulated. I still have my mud flaps. Did not want to do a BMC. You will probably have to trim and push the liners forward, adjust your camber close to 4 degrees, remove your mud flaps, and potentially still do a BMC.
Negative offsets create issues along with tires as wide or wider than 295’s. Good luck and post up after installing.

Added some sheepskin luxe (Cover Craft) to the drivers seat.
Feels really good!
Can still feel the seat heater (through two covers now though takes a little longer) and the extra cushioning along w the seat jackers below makes for a comfy chair (previous vehicle 2011 > 2018 was an FJ Cruiser, that seat was tough to get comfortable in ((6'2" - 165lbs)).

And dig the look. (strip was enough for me, couldn't commit to a full sheep skin cover, I do really like the canvas Escape Gear ones for the full cover)
