What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

Got everything for my tune up...I can only imagine how neglected this 4R was by the previous owner. Once that's done, inspect the suspension and make a list of parts to replace/upgrade. Hoping to have it road worthy for a Yosemite trip I'm planning with friends.

Boats & Locks

Tested Snoop's boat launching skillz for a friend... and replaced the driver's side junction block (82730-35320) so the doors would lock again.

Yesterday installed all new injectors. Runs really nice now.

Noticed a new issue though. If reversing slowly all is good. But if I give a little gas I get a clunking/jarring vibration quite badly. Any thoughts? I'm going to grease up the driveshaft but I've never noticed this before. Truck sat for a couple weeks waiting on the injectors to be done. No issues driving forward.

Did you check your driveline? I would start there...before running for the hills . Before greasing it grab it and see if you can rottate/move it. Damn medicine didn't see you mention drives haft till I typed this all out

If you take out the drain plug first and drain it but then can't get the fill plug out, how do you fill it?

I'm going through something similar myself. I just got my rear diff drain plug out. First time being change in 15 years. My dad never had it done.

So glad I did this today. Rides a lot smoother. Vibration has nearly disappeared. Next up are my front diff, transfer case, ATF, and power steering.

My tundra rotors should be arriving next week. Can't wait to do the brake upgrades

Finally quit preaching about it and got my own hand baptised in dirty diff fluid.

Changed the fluid in my rear differential and transfer case ('fill' plug first!), but by then it was near dark and mosquitos were draining my precious ONeg, so I'll drop the skids and do the front another day.

Oh, and I removed all traces of my broken badges on the back.

Daaayyuuuuum gurl!!! U looking fine!!!! I was wondering if I should go black trim or chrome / silver. Chrome / silver it is! You don't get the overall picture from the photo but she is shiny!! I'll get a new stock chrome front bumper and make a double winch attachment out of two 1 1/4" trailer hitch receivers on some bar across the frame rails, and the winch will temporarily attach to those when needed, its mounts will go through the lower grill into the trailer receivers and stay in with the cotter pin things. Then I can also put receivers on the rear trailer hitch to accept the same winch mount.

Yesterday I searched the junkyards for some rubber trim to go around the license plate bezel. Some T4R's have the rubber, others don't. Mine doesn't and now I have really annoying rust bubbles travelling outwards underneath the paint, I presume it started from chafing by the bezel. Hopefully the rubber trim will cover that.

Also there are more annoying rust bubbles on the rocker panels. I have to get rid of them because I think they started from a small paint chip, then in winter salt got in there and just travels under the paint. Even if I wash it off now, the salt is still stuck under there and it will keep growing. Luckily there aren't any on the outside.

Hit it with primer.

How is it to drive at night? Have a pic from the inside during the day or night?
I have been thinking of getting my rears all tinted 5% since my fronts are already 20%

Wont see crap (As in nothing) out of them unless you drive under street lights and even then barely any visibility. I have had tinted windows of different percentages....never putting that crap on a front side window again. I would go with about 30-35% total for any rear.

Factory rear tinted glass with the AS3 designation runs about 18%. Remember light is similar to sound and any change is visually much more than just one or two numbers. Yes this is one of those subjective things when it comes to opinions...."oh I can see perfectly, I cant see crap, oh im in the middle".

Check your law here. Remember factory "clear" glass that has a AS2 designation is 70% not 100. It has to say AS1 to not have any factory tinting in it. So, as in California....you can not have ANY tint on the front side windows.

Of course...DUH...never even crossed my small mind. I guess I have never encountered a situation like that. I'm due for a LOF in a few hundred....will be breaking them loose just because. They are using salt the last couple of years and the rust is showing...so it may be reality for us too.

I feel your pain. You can always bed line the rocker panels and rear fenders. Check out my build thread

Today (technically yesterday) was about installing a hitch and blacking out the rims. Rims turned out well. Gives her a burly look. Just had to wait until there were a few days of sun to get it done.
