What did you do to your 3rd gen today?
[MENTION=95183]octanejunkie[/MENTION]I've been lucky at the junk yard in sunland/sun valley. Just recently found two up in Palmdale that I have yet to go to but did notice there was a lifted 4runner in the front, might be one of the employees or scrap.

A splash of green in my daily concrete jungle.
Now that the weather has turned for the better, I can get caught up on some projects that have been standing by, to stand by.
Also, I ordered a rear swing out from 4X Innovations last week. I am looking forward to this summer.

Overall, I like them.
I like the four-part design for full skids. So, in theory, you only need to remove skid #2, or the engine skid for oil changes.

Some notes though:
They didn't come with instructions. There was no mention about possible contact issues to the transfer case. Possible clearance issues seem to occur more in Limited trims, but not always. That, or it might also be 2001 & 2002 years, as their transfer case is slightly different than other years.
If you have contact issues, you'll know it. You will feel a lot more vibration. I think they should offer a bit more clearance to clear different year / trim configurations, but hey. Some have fashioned a piece to place between the frame and skid mount to gain a bit more clearance, while others have used washers.
This sort of sucked to find out after they were mounted because the skid in conflict was the first one put on requiring me to loosen another skid enough to add some washers. If I was trying to do a more thorough fix, I would need to remove more.
I found oil changes need to be done from the side if possible if you just want to drop the engine skid. My stupid filter would not come off last time, a huge PITA. I found I could not reach up along the radiator due to the width and lack of clearance from the radiator skid, so ofc it came. Not the skid's fault, but it is what it is.
I did like that the engine skid covers the cam adjusters. I got a good deal during black Friday. They will probably outlive me. That and Roy is nice guy and there to answer questions.
They might be overkill for my needs and I might have gotten away with aluminum skids or stainless if they didn't cost as much as they do.

Did you get the rear body mounts from Sonora Steel? I looked at mine a few nights ago just to check on them. They are gone. lol
Oh, and my savage skids still aren't touching anything on my 97. After 100's of miles of dirt and rock. Gotta be a year issue.
Thank you, very solid input. I haven't even taken my truck out, but skid's are about the last thing I would like to have prior to going and saying "wish I bought those".
They look great, I have a 97 base model truck but I will do a bit more research before I drop the cash haha.

Tightened my throttle and cruise control cables this morning while the truck was cold per instructions in this thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-g...e-response-better-shifts-throttle-cables.html
Tools used
2 x 14mm open wrenches
small adjustable wrench
small channel lock
The cruise control cable has a flat on the threaded sleeve which I was able to grab with a small adjustable wrench. If I had to guess I'd say it was 8mm or 9mm but I didn't have either wrench in my pocket.
The throttle cable had no flat like the cruise control cable, so I had to grab the ferrule/crimp under the rubber sleeve with the small channel lock.
I took most of the play out of the two cables, leaving some for good measure. Throttle response was crisper.
The transmission kickdown cable did not need adjustment.

I think the year 4runner makes a big difference, especially as far as the size of the transfer case. My theory is the 01-02s years present more issues. That, and the possibility of worn out transmission mounts might play a roll.
I need to still order the SS body mounts as well as 861 coils.
I hear ya. To me, it's just insurance. I am a believer in have and not need, rather than need and not have, where possible of course. Cash is always a reality ceiling.
Might be presumptuous, but if that was directed at me, thank you. Lol.

Got a Hitent roof top tent mounted on my Frontrunner Outfitters rack! Me happy 
Kind of a great treat after a very extensive preventive maintenance done ten days ago.
Just waiting on my brackets to install the awning as well.
The TBU, the ARB bumper, and I'll be set! Hopefully both will happen this summer after we move to OH!

Installed my Denso radiator this morning
