"2018 18' wheels" as in those are 18 inch wheels? I have those exact same wheels and they are 17 inches.

Yes I mistyped 17’’ wheels sorry, no rubbing whatsoever but its close. Had I not replaced shocks and coil springs could a couple years ago may have been a problem. Today I washed her, cleaned MAF, added some seafoam and ww fluid. Gonna do some beach riding tomorrow.

Got some 285/75/16 Thunderer Trac Grip mt tires mounted up today. First real mod other than trying to paint the hood, fender and hatch black couple weeks ago. Going to be painting the wheels black to cover the rust on them when it dries out

Today I got the new trans cooler with fan installed. Took longer then I expected, but came out great. Leaving the old cooler in and I'll run it as a power steering cooler as it gets cooking hot. Fan has 3 modes via spdt switch and relay, pulls 809 c.f.m .@ 15 amps. Normal operation (turns on at 180 degrees via thermo switch), completely off (water crossings ect.), and manual on. Even added a radical little fan led. I have the front still stripped apart to do the ps cooler and hid headlight retrofit. Man I'm working harder on vacation then at work lol. Front end lift stuff should be here end of this week.

nice set up

Thanks! Im ordering parts to do this this weekend and I just had a bit of a panic that I didn't check to see if my wheels would fit. this clears that up. One question, what are you doing about the spare? Im thinking of ordering a 5th full size "flower wheel" that matches my other 4 as a spare, just not sure if it will hang in the spare compartment below the cargo bay.

I'm confused why you would buy a spacer lift for the front rather than adjust your front shock circlip settings

I wasn't using the yellow-blue/ yellow-yellow TRD coils. I was using the orange-orange/ orange-red (with the stock yellow bilstein ) tundra coils from a Double Cab tundra so I had no room to adjust up :(. If I end up finding the yellow yellow / yellow-blue ill make sure to switch.

PS. I was expecting the ride to be super harsh using the double cab tundra set, but fortunately it rides great!

Changed all the gear oil

Traded out all the gear oil and used 70-90 syn valvoline.

Challenges included:

not initially knowing my front diff drain plug was a 12mm instead of the 10mm size on the fill plug.

rounding off the rear fill plug. son of a ***** was stubborn and i eventually caved, had a guy weld on a lug nut to it. i may not swap it out, but since it's the fill plug i can change it out at my leisure without having to drain again.

also, i HIGHLY recommend a pump for your new oil bottle(s). the transfer case is a breeze but a pump would've kept the mess down on the front and rear.

For gearbox fills i always use a large funnel connected to 6’ of vinyl tube. The funnel get tied to the wind deflector it’s roof rack. Easy.

Interested in seeing how well this works for you. Have been considering doing something similar for a while. Have had the fan for over a year now just waiting in the garage.

What trans cooler is that? Fan and controller come with?

Did you happen to experiment with the fan in the front, pushing ambient air through? I tend to think it being behind pulling, as you did, is desirable, for a couple reasons...

Not particularly impressed so far with mine.

Just driving around, the fan of course is a large obstruction of air flow, and cooling is noticeably degraded. When the fan is turned-on, I have not yet noticed an appreciable benefit. Wondering if a thinner profile fan behind pulling is the way to go...

How long did this take you? First time doing it?

Mine could use replacing and it looks rather involved for such a simple thing.

Thanks,

Eddie

I think it took me about 5 hours but that was with a dinner break and a few other small ones. It was my first time doing and it wasn't too hard. It's just a lot of hoses and bolts you have to disconnect and keep track of where they go. I followed Timmy's video and that helped a lot. YouTube

Definitely put some tape around the drivers side wire harness. The plastic on it was super brittle and will break off and fall into the valves. I just used some green painters tape because I didn't have any of the tape he used in the video. Decided to leave it on there because taking it off would just make the pieces fall off.

Pulled the rear axles to do seals and bearings. Actually pretty surprised I didn't have gear oil flowing through the brakes considering where the seal was riding. This is the driver's side, I had smelled gear oil on the passenger side when I did a rotation so I knew they were close to gone.

Thanks toverturf. :bravo:

Very helpful and I'm sure my time would be about the same since I have not done this on a T4R. On a Miata, it is fairly easy but seeing the engine bay on my T4R, I knew it would take some time.
