Bought a custom swing out tire carrier from 240m3srt on this site. His 4R has a 1.5" body lift. I have to make it work without the lift. I think notching the bumper will work. Need to get it all figured out. It was a great deal for a very well built part. No Harbor Freight half-ass effort here.

Sorry for the late pics lol I was busy with the trailer and school lol. They turned out pretty good I just have to get a replacement bulb because the tabs broke on one, and a halo is a little cockeyed (will pull headlight apart a a later date and fix), but I like the over all look. Plus you cant beat the stupid easy process of installing mini's I only have a total of 2 and a half hours stuck in to these bad boys lol. Well enough talk. I will do a reveiw thread later. Here we go.

Plus, it's been starting crappy but after it kicks over it runs fine. Could it be a starter issue? What are some symptoms of that (other than it not starting)?

I have a duralast platinum (AGM cell battery) from autozone, they are made by Johnson Controls, the same company that makes Optima stuff. It has a great warranty and about the same specs of a die hard platinum, but for half the price. ($145 when I got mine) So far it has served me well. It got me home when my alt took a poop 3 hours away from home lol

Went with a Kirkland one since Costco was right down the road and they have a 60 month warranty on them. Started right up when I put it in.

I wanted a better quality one but I just couldn't afford it and this whole scenario happened on my 15 min break at work (which turned into 2 hrs).

Those two pictures look similar to me, except the LED's are a little more white than yellow. The biggest problem / safety issue with the 3rd gen 4runner is the headlights, the reflector housing / buckets, are CRAP!

no light of any kind will ever fix this! (i tried telling a this friend of mine (that i swear has down syndrome or some mental issue....) and he threw hundreds of dollars down the drain on HID kits, LED bulbs, before i think giving up)

Look up projector retro-fits (this is what i did) and here's one results picture, if you own a Drill and a Dremel tool, buy some epoxy and something similar to this stuff Steel Stik , and your thumbs still work, this is the RIGHT WAY to fix the light out put issue. This is where you can buy everything too, if you want, they're HID bulbs and ballasts are over priced (in my opinion) The Retro-fit Source

You get what you pay for. They are very high quality, have a great warranty and are reliable. And truthfully they are not that expensive...

If you have any other brand that you have found to be good you should share it though. For HID conversions for less critical lighting systems I have found that VVME ballasts and bulbs from ebay are actually pretty good quality. I had 6 55W HID Hella 500's that I built for my tacoma and never had an issue with them. I am actually running VVME kits in my 700FF's and my fog lights in my bumper. That being said I wouldn't ever use them in my headlights lol.

Also regarding lights, the best bulbs short of a full HID conversion I've found have to be the Philips Vision Plus. Shorter service life but output is very good for the housing shortcomings. I just supplement them with a Rigid light bar, lol.

I run one and like it. Smaller than normal. I just didn't have the $$$ to spend on a rebadged Odyssey Diehard Platinum like Connor did. Kball has a Duralast AGM as well. I am curious to see how it is holding up four years from now.

One of the two Costcos I use have done away with Kirkland batteries and now are stocking a more limited selection of Interstates.

It says johnson controls right on the top of it and my dad worked for JCI in their marketing department lol. It is made by JCI.

I use the 35W 6K D2S's from DDM tuning. Had great luck so far, only replaced 1 bulb in the ~ 5 years i've had them installed. Somebody was talking about a flicker experience once... except for when they turn on, I've never seen a "flicker" of my lights output, only the squinting white reflection of a few douchbag's faces that didn't turn off there high beams!
