Got projectors!! who knew that you could actually see at night while driving a 96 haha. If anyone is interested check out light works of northern colorado on fb. $350 for new housings plus all the wiring and 6000k hids.

That price seems WAY too good to be true.

With a STEEP discount from ThRetrofitSource and TYC housings from Rock Auto I pay right about $345 for parts alone when I do a retrofit.

I wonder what type of parts they're using.

A few days ago...

Tried a Philips Vision LED bulb in one of the reverse lights,kept the other one normal incandescent to compare. Unfortunately no improvement. It's blinding looking right at it,but none of the extra light output was going where it should be. It's too bad since the same bulbs made a difference on our Tundra,these bulbs work better in larger housings.

I also use the same bulbs in my front markers, pretty large increase in brightness compared to the original "peanut" 194 bulbs or even an incandescent 921.

I could see where all blue/red lights might get you in trouble. I haven't had any issues with multicolor though.

I'm doing it next year then. I've seen a few people around town do it too. I might keep them off when I'm on I-80 though, those cops will pull ya over for any reason you give them.

I went with these: 2X 30W CREE 7440 T20 White LED Front Rear Turn Signal Reverse Back Up Lights | eBay

They work great, highest lumen output I could find in a backup light without mounting external lights. The projector lens is nice for a little more depth too.

I went with very similar to these. Same side LEDs and end projector. They work great!
I second the vote for these if you are lookin for better reverse bulbs.

Drove it for the first time since replacing burnt up amplifier on Saturday.

Got pulled over for loud music. Cop was a cool guy and fellow metal head. So we ended up talking about music and such. Told me nice truck and politely asked if I could keep it down.

Spent the money on second skin sound deadening instead of the ticket. :naughty:

If you decide to try and do your turn signals, be careful because a lot of the bulbs are too long to fit the 4Runner. You can't really tell until you open them up, but the lenses have an amber lens around the bulb inside that restricts the length. You'll also need to swap the flasher for one that will work with LEDs.

I was just enjoying my new amp. Not trying to be the cool guy with a subwoofer in traffic. 120 sq ft of SS should keep lot's more sound inside now :clap2:

I made a comment on here before that the truck without sound deadening was pretty solid at isolating interior noise. Guess I either surpassed that or my standards suck.

Also, if you have the 01-02 taillights, is there an orange led bulb that works without messing up the flashers? And same for front turn signals.?

I don't know exactly what parts he is using, but I can see at night now so i'm happy haha. He has built a couple of the lights that toytec has used on their builds

All those LED bulb replacements will cause "hyperflash", there are two fixes:

• Replace orginal flasher relay to a LED-compatible one. My opinion the best fix, but in some vehicles it's a pain to get to the existing relay so there's the next fix below...
• Resistors wired inline with the LED bulbs to duplicate the resistance values of the incandescent bulbs these bulbs replaced.

After reading what [MENTION=84643]JBurt[/MENTION] posted I wouldn't put sea foam in the oil. Honestly I would run Rotella through a couple of oil changes. It has a great detergent in it. One of the posters from that link stated to remove sludge gradually. Rotella will do that and does not involve anything but oil.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll go the Rotella route until spring, when I can afford to have the 4Runner sidelined.

Learned a valuable lesson: don't drive around without skid plates... not even for a day. Something hit my tranny line and caused ATF to spray all over my engine bay. Luckily i noticed almost immediately.

Added LED turn signals/ marker lights to my TJM front bumper. Also added an LED friendly flasher to eliminate the hyper flashing.
