I thought about starting to gap the piston rings. Ended up playing with the kids and pup. Ordered the rest of the engine parts. Mic'd the crank and started reassembly. Count down is on, looking like around three weeks before new engine is reassembled with SC rebuilt and mated to the Marlin transmission.

Quoted again to make sure you see it... Is your knock sensor harness going to reach it's plug...? It plugs in up near the front of the fuel rail on the intake manifold, kinda under the PCV valve.
Typically routed like so:
Mine reaches just fine. Mine have always been routed on the fron though. It's tight but it clips in for the sensors.

Engine update....
Well its getting around to 2am. I thought I would show you were I'm at today after yesterday's marathon day of working on her. So in two days engines swapped and installed.
Just have to put throttle body on and hook up a few other things and she is ready to fire at 6am to work out any bugs bit I don't think I'll have any. Then to the exhaust shop to get the headers welded in at the flange.

Hey when your friends say this weekend is a river and fishing trip and you need your 4runner to get there and haul the kayak you get your ass in gear and quick to make the trip. It fly fishing on the north fork rive in mo.

Finally completed my "budget" retrofits! Painted the housings and corner lights black. Switched to 5000K HIDs and LED corner lights.

I bet it just killed you to go with the Interstate mega-tron plus with more CCA instead of the sweet looking regular one that is green & white but with less CCAs.

Installed carpet. Technically started last night, but finished this morning around 3AM.
Bigger pain than I thought it would be. Also messed up one spot by driver side 4WD shifter. It meets right up to the plastic trim, but not long enough to stay behind it. Also had the same thing happen on the driver side by the backseat heat vent on center console.. which looked fine until I installed the seat which pulled it down a little as well. Oh well!Ordered from Stock Interiors.

Quite the unusual colour! Matches the walls! I've painted a few engines unusual colour, in the past, people will never forget them, after they see'em!
