What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Geezus 120W HID lights? I thought I had some bright ones at 55W. Do they dilute the color of the bulbs you have? My 55W make my 8500 look like 7500 which is perfect for me.

THey are LED, not HID.

I saw a 4runner on the road yesterday with super bright headlights, but no throw to them. He pulled into the same gas station I was at so I asked him what headlamps he was running and he said LEDs (in stock housings) and that he mostly got them for 4 wheeling.

My projectors threw much farther, focused beams than his on the road, but I could see how his setup (with or without light bars) would be good for wheeling in the dark.

The LED's I ran and I sold to him throw awesome. The 120w will light up the entire road for a mile. No cut off and that was the main issue.

Yea, breaking those apart are an insane PITA. Nightmare but should last another 300K. Not sure what UCA/LBJ combo you have but an oversight on my part was thinking I had plenty of room to press in my Light Racing UBJ after I welded the TC Gusset on. I lucked out and had just barely enough "bite" on the spindle and a way to brace it on the press to make it happen.

If you can press it in first and keep the heat away from the boot, you should be OK. BTW if you have the LR UBJ combo you will need a new external "c" clip. Once it's removed, it's spent. I think you've read all that in my build already.

Thanks... it had occurred to me to get a new "C" Clip. but I figured "It'll be ok" (This is quite unlike me.. lol) I'll need to work out where I can get a replacement from.

I got it from autoanything.com -- they were willing to negotiate on the price a lot. Ask for Emmanuel. I wouldn't have gotten it but he was willing to work on the price. I'm from California so they initially included sales tax, which looks like you won't have to deal with.

Upstream O2 sensor swapped. Flare nut wrench saved the day.

Also grabbed a new battery. The Kirkland I'm running now is 8 years old and has been corroding bad as of late. Will swap the new one in tomorrow.

I ended up going with these on the left. Couldn't find the ones on the right anywhere. Can always snag a couple for you if you want. Just PM me.

It's been a long day lol thought I'm missed it a couple of times. - Still I enjoyed reading through, you rig is one of my favourites on here.

Thanks! I just need to work out where I can get a spare circlip from now, I assume they are a standard size, but its going to be hard to measure when on the truck! (I don't suppose you, or anyone knows a part number or size for them?)

My plan was to build up my new spindles, so everything can just be "Swapped over" for minimum down time, I have new lower arms with bushes (Toyota), new lower ball joints (Toyota), new inner and outer track rod ends (Toyota), the new uprated SPC upper ball joints and bushes. Apart from the SPC bushes and these "hard to press in bushes" it would almost be a straight remove and refit!

I must admit it hadn't occurred to me that it'd be hard, I assumed with the notch in the gusset, they could be pressed in with a two leg press, once they've been well and truly frozen. Thanks for the heads up!

Flushed the heater core...did not get much out of it. Heat is working great again. Idle and driving 60mph temps from center vent and center defrost vent. ....125/145, 105/115.

finally got around to adding pictures to my computer.. paint before was in bad shape, PO tried to cover a bad patch job of the holes that were left from the fender flares and sprayed it with a bright green color. The original color was evergreen, the rear hatch was also from an anthracite 4runner. Being that it is my budget woods/exploring/camping rig I said F'it and decided to Monstaline the truck. Went with a desert dune color.

Still have a lot of touching up and might just go ahead and do the roof in the same color, was contemplating a black roof. Going to touch up all the black including the bumpers as well. I'm happy with how it turned out!

Unfortunately for all the other drivers on the road....he wasn't out wheeling in the back country. Another reality of cheap non-compatible light bulbs....they actually put out less useable light for 95% of the driving done.
