What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Went to my local dealer and ordered some replacement timing cover bolts to replace the ones I lost this weekend...

Finally gave her a bath as well, we've been having some wacky weather lately and had a big thaw last week! Good thing it's supposed to go back down to -30 this week.

finally got around to adding pictures to my computer.. paint before was in bad shape, PO tried to cover a bad patch job of the holes that were left from the fender flares and sprayed it with a bright green color. The original color was evergreen, the rear hatch was also from an anthracite 4runner. Being that it is my budget woods/exploring/camping rig I said F'it and decided to Monstaline the truck. Went with a desert dune color.

Still have a lot of touching up and might just go ahead and do the roof in the same color, was contemplating a black roof. Going to touch up all the black including the bumpers as well. I'm happy with how it turned out!

LOL prolly cause the 4runner paint is called desert dune. Interesting how the pic in the Monstaliner link for desert sand looks more grey than tan, I guess you can't trust online pics with all the white balance and monitor variations.

Seat color is 100 Taupe and the piping is 17 Tan. I swear they didnt have the Taupe listed available for the piping i probably would have done that, but they look pretty good with the tan.

Power washed, soaped her up and parked under tent

Not today but yesterday. Been meaning to get her out of the weather for a few years but she's held up pretty well. Finally got around to it after a monster snow storm last month destroyed our white tarp tent for keeping branches dry for burning. I managed to salvage it with a bit of welding and put it back together a few feet shorter.

These pics are from the mere 6" we got Sat night. Moved the tarp to a different location not under the tree with the giant falling branches and will use it for parking. This will keep the sun, tree sap and pine needles off. But I noticed there are quite a few areas with paint "chips", not sure if it's just the clear coat that has come off due to the tree sap. There were a few bits of sap on the roof that would not come off with alcohol despite all the youtube videos showing it works best, I guess it's been on too long and is caked. Didn't manage to get a pic of those unfortunately, next time.

I have changed my build purpose for "Snowy", I am instead going to restore her to full stock condition. Then I can get collector status for insurance and license plates in a few years when she hits 25. Here is the link to the ICBC page for this. Luckily of the photos they want you to take none will show the rust underneath... LOL but I'll clean it up anyways. She's a pretty car, I like the colour scheme.

Took delivery of the new company car, with a whopping 47 miles on the clock.

Replaced my old 2011 1 series.. and they have definitely come on a long way!

I just looked and they do have the 100 Taupe for both.

Installed my new full length custom rack from Outgear Solutions. Joe was great to work with and shipping all the way to NJ from CA was reasonable. Bulletproof palleting also. LOVE the low profile. Also installed a 40" Morimoto XTorch light bar which Joe added some custom brackets for the light and they fit the light perfectly. Ran the wiring harness through the "plug" underneath the rack endcaps. That was a pain because one of the "Oh s&^t" handles wouldn't come all the way off because I stripped one of the screws. I sneaked the wire under the pillar trim with it loose but in place.

Part of the tax return came in so ordering some maintenance parts. Upgrading the fronts to 231's, replacing the rear shoes and the bell crank kit since my parking brake isnt working right. Also needs an oil change. LBJ's are being ordered in a week or so when the rest of the return comes in. Theyre alright, but Id rather err on the side of caution with them.

Thanks Jason. There are yellow "plugs" under the endcaps. They're in a 3/8" hole. I stole a picture from another post that shows the hole without the yellow plug. No drilling at all. Well not entirely true. I tried to drill through the bottom and the drill bit was a little too big and spun the plug in the hole. If I were to do it again I would have used a smaller bit to start with. I just took it out anyway because the sheathing on the Opt7 harness was tight fit anyways in the bare hole. Mind you, the edges on the underside must be a little sharp because the sheathing on my wiring harness got a little chopped up when I pushed the harness through the hole. I think it will be OK because it only did that when I pulled through on an angle.
Anyways, after removing the 3 Oh Sheet handles (well, two and a half), pulling down the trim a little, removing the visor, and pulling down the headliner a tiny bit. I then just cut the portion of the harness that goes through the roof and fed it down along the upper trim and down the front pillar and into the dash. Here's a link to the light bar

Wow, I though I got a smokin' deal on mine at $200! That's a steal! You can barely get the stock 3rd gen SR5 wheels for $100 on CL these days. Did you find them listed online or from someone you know? Just curious.

Save your money on the shackles. Go to Home Depot. Husky 3/4 shackle with isolator already on it for $7
