On the lift again this morning to try and get the alignment issue solved.
The first tech had very little experience doing alignments with aftermarket UCA's. After the first try it was pulling to the right and major rubbing on the passenger side. Where I never had any pull or rubbing (unless tucked) issue before.
Tech has done lots of research and is confident he's figured it out, so I'll let him have one more try. If he can't get it done right this time then I'll be looking for a refund and a different alignment shop.

Need opinions on color
My wheels are peeling so I decided to paint them. I just started with the spare I picked up from another forum member. Color is "rustic mist" that I picked up and, well, I think I really like it. Am I crazy for trying to go bronz'ish on the wheels? All opinions will be considered before I paint the rest of the wheels. This shot was taken just after I applied the second Wet coat (I'm holding a paper towel in the lower portion of the frame for a white balance reference). I'm using Rustoleum metallic primer + paint; planning on finishing it with a clear enamel.

So I rolled over a small milestone in mileage today while I was picking up some shotguns. I only put on the last 50,000 miles roughly; but I look forward to the next 250,000 with this rig.

Finished taking off the stupid little chrome / black fender flares. There is still lots of crap stuck to the paint, I will have to use some kind of solvent to get it off.
I put on the 2004 4th gen sport 6 spoke wheels. They came with some bad 265/65/R17 tires with not much tread left but that let me see how they rub. I think during full flex they will rub the upper control arm thingy. They have about a half inch more offset than the standard 3rd gen rims. I want to put on some 265/70/R17's.
I really like these rims. Like if I found a really hot girl I could be happy for the rest of my life with them. But I am scared to put on spacers. All I need is 1/4" but that will reduce the bolt threading which is scary, plus I don't want any lateral shear on the bolts. Also I read that those spacers are not a good idea because you then have two friction surfaces held together by the lug bolts which they aren't designed for. The other option is to go with Spidertrax type spacers at over an inch thick which have their own bolts (so only one friction surface per bolt set) but I hear horror stories about those ones coming loose or shearing off without any warning.
What do you think about actually just welding a 1/4" Al spacer to the rims (aluminum) and getting longer bolts? There is no way that spacer could come loose then.
I also noticed that my right rear wheel sticks out 1/4" further than my left rear wheel, never heard of that before.

Thanks. The links are from eBay. Aside from the chinesey rod ends they appear fairly decent. I think once paired with some forged johnny joints from Currie they'll perform very well.
Will post up once I get the new joints and get them installed on the truck.

Drove it 780 miles from my house to Cochise Stronghold. Just got done setting up camp for the next 7 days. Weathers gonna be perfect for climbing. Can't wait till tomorrow morning.
This was the first long haul I did in it. With 241000 miles I wasn't even a bit worried. I bought some of my tools though. You know, to help non Toyota divers in a pinch. Fully loaded it cruises at 80 without a problem. It's also gonna make a superb tent for the next week. Lol

Started this last weekend (TB/WP/VCG/Alt./Rad.).
Was going to finish it up this weekend, but forgot where I put the new dip stick and timing belt cover washer/gaskets. :redbrick:
Hope the ones I ordered from Camelback this morning get here before next weekend.

P.S.: Make sure you're careful when you pull off the crank pulley. It's heavy and can smash things.

Finished this up today. First time ever doing a TB/WP and it started right back up. Pretty happy about that. Put on a 1" body lift after buttoning that up. Should have the bumper on mid-week.
Oil change done and fixed my parking brake. Its reassuring to park on my hill with it now... Bought new shoes to replace, but when I got the drums apart the shoes were good so I have spares for next time now. 231's showed up today and they are much bigger than I was expecting. Theyre going on next weekend.

They changed their model numbering from M/S^2 to LTX M/S defender something. I can keep track anymore.
I really reallly hope I didn't just put money down tthe drain, the car is a rust bucket. but 9 year old tires is deadly. I think I still have 3-4 years left out of her i want to squeeze every drop out of her.
I think the new tires will make me appreciate all I have done for this car !
if i get a 2016, the first thing I would do is negiociate that they take of the stock crap everyone here has complaining about and putting this tires on them immediately.
