New shoes are on order

I had a pleasant surprize today at my local Discount tire. I took the T4r in to have the tires siped to buy me some time before replacing my Wranglers. The tires have 8/32" tread left and seemed to be okay except for the lousy wet traction that almost caused an accident last week.

When the tire-guy looked at the tires he noticed tread/belt separation happening at the sidewall on all 4 tires. Now understand, these Wranglers are from 1995. He tells me that they can give me a credit towards new tires even if I didnt buy them from Discount tire. Long story short I jumped at the chance to get new tires at nearly half off the regular price. I ordered Yoko Geolander HTS all around, for an out the door price of $425.

How could I say no?

I was driving down a straight road and some how, i drove off a 8 foot ditch with like a 80 degree slope into a field. At about 30mph. I knew I was going to roll once I started going downhill.. so ya. Hit a tree, then slide onto driver side.. Ill get pics after work tomorrow.

The whole night was So Gay

A 1990 FORD ranger pulled me back onto my wheels and I drove through the field and back to the road. Didnt call the cops but when I came back the next day all the **** then went out the window was gone and the scene was flagged off and the road had some crazy paint lines on it. Like the cops were trying to figure out what happened, when I simply just went off the road at low speeds lol

Today was rear U-joint day. I striped the driveshaft with some paint so I could get it back in the same position. Pulled the yoke and had a local machine shop press in a new u-joint. Once I got it all back together, I used acetone to clean off the paint. Should be good for another 100k+miles

I ordered Brembo Rotors and Akebono Premium Ceramic Brake pads for the Wife's pre-Runner.

mixed up another batch of meth (methanol and distilled H2O) for the 4runner. I need to mellow out on the WOT starts from stop lights.:whipping2

I replaced the battery and the alternator...easy greasy...no more christmas lights on the dash :driving:

New tires 285/70-17 bfg km2s 50 dollars for all 4 with 90 percent tread!! Talk about a sweet deal

Lucky!

I came out pretty lucky and only had to replace the ball joints, break line, tire and re-pack my cv with fresh grease. When the tire folded up under the body, the tie-rods held on and the wheel wedged its self up against my slider. Had the slider not been there I would be repairing some serious sheetmetal!

You got off lucky! Lesson learned by all who see this post! My next job will be to change the LBJs .... when I change my tires over in the next couple of weeks! I had the vehicle inspected by a mechanic this spring, at time of purchase, and they informed me my ITREs were weak, so I negotiated their replacement as a subject of sale. The vehicle rides straight, steers ok but does feel looser than I'm happy with. Maybe LBJs and OTREs may help.... but of course the LBJs are a safety issue, as you experienced!

Attempted to replace my rusty rear bumpers today. Snapped 3 bolts in the process,and had to cut off one that apparently was rounded off on install when it was built. S for now I'm bumperless,should get her re-installed tomorrow.

Just got done removing the headlights and swapping the donor headlights in (thanks SantaCruzRunner!). Was going to heat the headlights up and paint them, but ran out of time and my brother-in-law stopped by and chatted my ear off. Hopefully tomorrow I can get them painted and either tomorrow night or Sunday get them all put back together.
