What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Removed Skids Plates, Cleaned all the grease off them from the axle that went to shit. Going to repaint them and re-install. Also, new wheel caps came in today so they will be painted at the same time too.

question for anyone who can help me. I'll do my extensive search after i post this but yeah
- as my daily driver, should i fix this ASAP or can i order my coilovers then fix it? I wouldn't wait too long but you've got a week or so to spare. Don't go on any long trips. If you commute a lot daily I would fix it soon.
- Will coilovers keep this from happening again? Depends, if you crank them to what you're at now then there wont be any change. How would they fix boots from tearing otherwise?
- does my diff drop just suck balls? Diff drop is a diff drop, I can't see any reason why one would be different from another.
- the inside boot is the one that is torn i guess i gotta take it all out? this sucks ballz dammit! Yes, you'll have to take the entire axle out.

BTW, I've never had to remove the skid plate to get an axle out. Although, I can't remember if a stock skid would cause any interference. The driver side is the easiest. I get a pry bar with a curved hook on the top of the axle and wedge it in there. Pry a little then push the bar forward or pull backward, whichever is easiest for you. It should pop out. May take some practice.

The rubber was shot and it was slinging grease all over the truck. Like picture above. Easy fix.

We took the skids off just to have the extra room. Six Bolts and more room.

thanks for the info guys. I do drive quite a bit. A least 3 days a week i have a 25 mile commute one way. I was thinking the coilovers would be better then the top plate spacers because there is more give with the longer springs. (I think i read that somewhere)

I'm just hesitant to fix it if they're gonna rip again.

I've been reading a lot about this stuff and I'm kinda scared to jump into it myself. Maybe if I get some of the guys here locally we can knock it out. If this is going to be a common thing, I might want to learn how to replace one of these myself. Cheapest quote i've heard so far for everything is $289

Installed the OME spacer and now it is only a 1/4 in off instead of a full inch. And also found out this weekend that the frame on my truck is most likely out of square. So it is going to a body shop next week to get it looked at and see what the repair is going to run.

I have the KM2's and love them. Never tried the grabbers so I can't give you a comparison though.

Do you know if the 4th gen links just bolt right up without any modification?

I also hav the km2s n think there great tires but i see alot of others put them down wen it comes to the snow but imo they do good and if u like rocks then i think u would love them i think they stick to the rocks great but or a little soft but i have chunked mines yet

Yessir they sure do! They are just like the 3rd gens but about 1inch longer or so.

Today I uninstalled my TRD FMU and replaced it with an OE fpr, hooked it up to the boost port on the charger, and put in 6x 2JZ 312cc injectors to compliment my recent acquisition: AEM FIC w/PNP harness. Huge thanks to Shaun at TokenSolutions for making it all happen painlessly.
..only got snowed on a little bit in the driveway.

Wasn't today, but within the last week; new fuel pump and filter. Surprisingly, I'm getting much better mileage. Before the pump died I could make it from Abq to Taos on half a tank, after the new items the same trip is a third of a tank.
