What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Finished DEchroming the runner. :spy:

Got a black bumper off a limited (had to drill and add my old flares)
Plastidipped and clear coated the grill.
Got a back bumper off ebay and painted and clear coated myself.

Hey Aeroneer! Im lookin to DEchrome my t4r as well, cant stand the rear bumper, so wondering. did you sand all the chrome off the rear bumper you bought off of ebay or did it already come with no chrome?

Finished my Suspension install after a minor setback yesterday.
Picked up tires, and got it all together.
Wasn't sure how it would all come out, but very happy with results so far.
Alignment tomorrow.
Need better pics.

Any thought to heat forming/wrapping the HDPE around the sides, so the fasteners can be away from the intended impact surface?

Actually yes, lots of thought but no experimentation.

Adding the sliders took all of 20 minutes, and really the only reason I did it was because I had the material handy and was waiting for my bushings to freeze so I could press them in.

If I have issues with them, I will likely just pull them off. The tubing is .250 wall, so I'm not terribly concerned.

We do a similar technique with the control arms on the rally cars.
The gravel sometimes sprays the screws so badly, we have to cut the skids off.
It's obviously a wear item, but every bit of ease helps!

Brought it to the dealer to have them look it over. I know I know. I just don't have a good mechanic right now. Kind of interesting to hear the list of things they tell me is wrong with it.
Half the stuff I replaced myself within the past 12 months.

All dealers are not bad. My local Toy dealer is first class all the way , in fact if I have something that requires the dealer , at least they quote me right up front how much the repair will be . Other shops its " well we will know more once its apart " type stories . Those can be lethal

Tires are 275/70-17 with 17" wheels.

I really like how it looks.

Having to do some cutting since tires rub on inclines when I am turning.

All dealers are not bad. My local Toy dealer is first class all the way , in fact if I have something that requires the dealer , at least they quote me right up front how much the repair will be . Other shops its " well we will know more once its apart " type stories . Those can be lethal

Well they wanted $500 to do the front pads and rotors!!! I know my front brakes got a ways to go till done.

Also said I needed an axle and a inner tie rod end. Both of which have been replaced in the last 6 months.

Oh man , front brakes on a 3rd Gen are so easy a caveman can do them , seriously . Easiest brakes I've ever done . You can do those .

Sorry for the late reply. Ya I bought a cheap one off ebay and it came primered (flat black).

Then I primed it again, and put a bunch of coats of satin black. Then I bought some good quality (~$25) clear coat from the auto paint store. You have to puncture the bottom of the can, it's hardcore stuff.

Laid about 2 coats of that on there, and almost identical to factory metal.

Have you seen pictures of my truck, I did all the work myself, I know I can do the brakes, I just cant believe that they would charge $500 for pads and rotors!!

got it done for the most part. It didn't turn out in my head but nothing ever does. I like it better then what i had before. I wasn't a big fan of the LED being so focused. I tried to put some wax paper in front of the LED and it just kind of made it look old fasion. anyway onto the pics!
