Well I was gonna remove my side steps. But my preggo wife says she actually uses it.

I installed my old alpine cda9884 stereo that sat for over 7 years Yesterday. I'm surprised the stock speakers aren't so bad. The stock deck was made it horrible.

I dont have another flashlight. Why replace a perfect working flashlight? It also would come in handy if I ever needed a tool to bash something with. Its also tucked under my seat and out of the way, I loose all my small flashlights.

I had to put my boards back on for my preggo wife. Two more months and they are back off!

Agreed. Remember the movie kick ass? His batons worked great for first 45 seconds and then they didn't.

Why is mounting a maglight so popular? There are other types of flashlights that are smaller that take less space and are literally 10 times brighter. I'm not hating. Just asking.

Can't speak for others, but for me I like them for the D cell batteries. 4-5x the typical capacity as a AA. Otherwise, they're pretty robust, and the LED versions are bright enough for anything I'm using them for.

New Kenwood KDC-X897 and Infinity 6030's in the front doors for me today (well, last couple of days.) Couldn't get acceptable audio playback from an ipod or iphone, but now that it's got a 32gb USB thumbdrive in it, I'm pretty happy.

I'd think it's because they are heavy and weapon was a secondary use for a police officer. mostly cops need lights, since the have guns and other weaponry at their disposal. I am not sure that it uselessness as a weapon would be the reason officers no longer carry.

i agree it's not the ideal weapon, but if you learn how to use it (not just mount it under your seat) it's better than nothing. swinging it wildly like a bat won't get you far.

also it will smash a window, be a make shift hammer, and whatever else you can think of for a heavy-ish blunt object.

not trying to start a huge debate. their are a million types of lights, and you should probably carry several differnt kinds for different uses. i know i do.

also i am posting because i am bored because i am 6000 miles away from my 4runner and got to do absolutely nothing to it today.

New All Terrain Tires

Went down to the locally owned tire shop and bought some new tires. Went in to buy BFG All Terrains that were running about $1000 out the door. The gentleman there said they have been selling alot of Mastercraft tires and were really impressed with the quality and price for an American made tire.

He sold me AXT's (stock size) for $506 out the door and said if I wasn't happy with them in 30 days, bring it back and he would give me a full credit toward the BFG's. I figured I would give them a shot.

I absolutley love them. ride great, drive great and quiet. I will let you know about off road and snow performance soon but durability report will have to wait a couple years.

Also had an alignment done.

Did get land cruiser shocks ordered finally. Been running stock shocks with a lift for almost a year.

Long Weekend

Scored a cargo mat for $3.99 at the local self serve salvage yard. I have been looking online for awhile now buy could never justify the shipping costs. This thing was nasty, covered in grease and dog hair so I took a trip to the car wash, and Voila! My next score was a sunroof visor. Getting the brackets removed without a functioning sunroof was a challenge.

I then came across a 1996 T4R strawberry milkshake victim who had owners that didn't exactly follow the recommended oil change interval...sludge city. I was going to snag the valve shims to add to my collection but even the shims were pitted. I didn't feel good about using them so I passed.

I then scored a grill emblem off of approximatly a 1981 pickup. I plan to eventually use it in a Satoshi style grill. It will take some masking and painting to make it look good again.

I decided to buy an extra wheel to experiment with. I stripped the clearcoat and polished 2 spokes of the wheel. The finish isn't show quality but you can't let perfection get in the way of an improvement! I will also be painting silver on the inside of the spokes and follow up with occasion polishing to stay on top of the bare aluminum.
