4x4 in the snow

Finally got to use the 4x4 in the snow... 25 mi in the snow, zero problems. After driving an '03 Tacoma for 10 years, I can honestly say the light truck back end makes the vehicle less capable in the snow than the 4Runner. It was a great truck, but having all the SUV weight over the back axle makes a significant difference in handling. Both awesome trucks, but I do prefer the 4Runner in the snow.

Thanks, i thought so too, the other way was just easier but this is way better IMO, better for showing off emblems too.

struts are off of a junk car, but they are a tad short, it's okay they were free, just gotta find a set with better travel.

Some oil leak - Suggestion Request

Hi. There is some oil leak from engine area as shown in pictures. I think it is head gasket seals. I also felt some leak from engine oil cap but I am not sure. My questions are; 1- Is it head gasket seal leak? I read somewhere tightening of bolts can be a solution or I need new gasket seals (Any recommendation about seals?).!! 2. Should I change the engine oil cap too or do I just need some cap seal for it? 3. How much it would cost to get new gasket seals work done at workshop?

fixed my grill, instead of having the mesh behind the grill i choose to have it flush, looks much better imo.


also put in some hood struts

Nice touch with the flush mount mesh. It is good to see things done a bit different from time to time.

Went with a new set of Blizzaks DV-M1 265/70-16. Ordered thru tire rack (sight unseen) and was not too impressed over the way they look compared to my all-season Nokians. The Blizzaks look like all-season tires (they don't look like snow tires) but will see how they do this winter...

Get a new oil cap gasket. Not hard to replace.

Search valve cover gasket replacement and you should be good to go.:thumb3:

Drove it to the dealer to get some parts for my Tundra. Looked at the 2014 4runner. Test drove one. Was less than $1000 away from trading in my 99 in on a 2014. They were willing to give me $7500. Not quite yet......but close.

Yep sticky the darn thing all ready.
What did I do to my 3rd gen? (actually yesterday) tested out my brakes by locking them up and throwing the 4runner into a skid to avoid going into an intersection on a red light. Yep, ABS disconnected and blazer mc with rear disks skid o' rama in panic moment. :fear:
