I looked on their site, and all they have is one that plugs into a cig lighter and another that has this dumb plastic trim all around it, can't find that one.

Finally decided to take the running boards off. Couldn't be happier. Such a little thing makes a huge difference.

It's the one with the plastic trim around it. Part number 1016. Using the rectangular trim and the rubber cover is optional. I used the cover but left the trim off.

It's not a direct fit for replacing the OEM socket. I used a rasp file to enlarge the hole for it to fit. But, after the fact it gives an OEM look.

RUST Patrol.

I used spray paint but, sprayed both primer and paint into 2 cups and then brushed on the paint - very carefully.

Top layer is SEM Aluminum XRP.

Got my Satoshi Mod just about done!!

Long time Lurker here, but i figured today i would throw some pictures up and get involved on here!!! i had the annoying grille with the big black bar thats molded into the middle of the thing,

so i need to do a little more shaving on it to get a little bit of the hump still showing out.

But other than that go it intstalled lower valence grille mesh installed and LED bar tinted so its not so noticeable.

I think you should have the bearings done, especially at 200k on them. The shop guy might be wrong. Does he know 4runners?

Here's why I say that. I was told by my 4runner mechanic that the play in the older bearings allows the shaft to move around which wears out the seal early.

So by his logic, specifically on 4Runners, you need to the bearings and seals, at least if the bearings have say 100k on them.

He did acknowledge that the bearings will look fine and not make a howling sound. He said there is still a small enough amount of play on older bearings to make the failure happen.

Thanks foe the tip. I'll keep an eye on it and if/when that seal blows again I'll check the bearing play and swap them out. I don't think the shop guy knew 4runners and this issue.

Yeah and I think the point of what I was told is that without proper tools YOU can't really check the bearing for play. It will look right even when it is a bit lose.

TCS Replacement encouragement!

After encountering: decreased gas milage, check engine light and rough idling, I OBII checked and got a P0120 indicating a Throttle Position Sensor replacement. After receiving my new OEM sensor and unscrewing the two screws on the old piece (which was a pain in the Ass on my 2.7), I uncovered that a SPIDER had somehow gotten in the sensor and then died. How a Spider got in the sensor I have no clue, but the fact that a runner could still perform is pretty miraculous. New sensor in, idling is lower and steady as a rock, 180k miles and still strong.

Great to see you over here! You'll definitely find tons of useful information on this forum (and you might catch the mod bug too). Good to hear you got the check engine light sorted out! I hate spiders...

(No Kidding) I've been indoctrinated with Toyota's from the beginning my first car was a
01' 4 Cyl 4x4 SR5 Tacoma ex cab (White as well). It feels a lot better to be doing the easy maintenance myself instead of paying someone else ludicrous amounts. The only mod i'm seriously considering is a OME 2.5 lift at some point.

unpacked it and tried to clean 4 days worth of dust out of the interior from DV. Honestly don't know how I can lead a group of rigs through DV and still have so much dust inside. :hurt:
