What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

While waiting for the new axle to come in, I decided to do something about my very rusty frame.
Used the angle grinder, wire brush and chisel to get the big rust off.
Then used Rustoleum Rust Reformer spray, then brushed Rustoleum bed liner on top of that. Hoping for the best!

Missouri 4 wheel Drive (MO4WD) had our annual spring jamboree at Moonlight Offroad park in Sullavin, MO.

Added some shovel mounts to the factory rack - my yellow lab didn't appreciate the shovel flopping around with him in the back of of the Runner.

On a second note; I got caught in a rather large rain rut in an awkward position and NEEDED the ARB locker (just the rear) for the first time. Wow, the rig just climbed out like it was nothing - cool to feel the locker do it's job flawlessly.

That frame looked crispy. It looks good now. Keep in mind that boxed frames rust from the inside as well. You should inject the inside of your frame with Fluidfilm or old motor oil if you want a cheap alternative. It requires no prep and lasts long.

Thank you! You read my mind, once I get the axle hooked up and the rest of the frame done, I am going to be doing just that. How does Fluidfilm, Eastwood's internal frame coating, and just motor oil all compare?

Strapped my kayak to the roof and slayed some smallies. I finally remembered to snap some pics of my rod transportation setup I rigged up a few months back. I think it turned out pretty nice. I used some sort of adjustable pole for hanging clothes that I found at Walmart, some zip ties to secure it to the oh shit handles, and some paracord that I had laying around. Drilled two small holes in the plastic trim piece and voila. I never take more than four rods with me at a time but can easily add more loops if necessary.

And one shot of my two money pits.

I would think Fluidfilm is best in terms of appearance, motor oil is more of a cheap-o alternate that works similarly. I cringe when I see that internal frame coating. It is meant for new frames, not ones that have seen salt for 15 years. You can never fully clean the inside of that boxed frame. When you use that coating you could be painting over dirt that cannot be seen. That is worse than leaving it in my opinion.

love the setup for transporting the rods!!!i may have to do that seems way better than letting them just float around in the boat lol

Washed & touched up most of the rock dings / scratches with OEM paint from Toyota. She's so much purdier!

Looks like a mini version of the Minnkota talon I have on my boat! The bigger power poles are pneumatic ar'nt they?

gave it a much much needed wash/claybar/buff/wax, also installed my ARB awning onto my Yakima. I was a little worried that the 4ft version would look too small, since most people put it on their rear hatch, but I'm very pleased with how it looks! it was only $180 shipped as well, which didn't seem to high. Very good quality, I can't wait to test it out in a few weeks down in Texas for the Lonestar Jamboree

Its been sometime, Engine work done, Transmission Rebuilt and today went to Goodyear for a set of 265/70/17 Duratracs on FJ Wheels. I was smiling ear to ear when I saw them on :bounce:
