It wouldn't free spool. 4wheelparts replaced under warranty. I paid difference of $53 and got synthetic line. Didn't get there warranty this time. Smittybilt gives these a lifetime mechanical warranty and 3 year electrical.

mine won't 'free-spool' either, i thought i screwed something up when i clocked it.... i bought there 2 year exchange also but just didn't want to remove it again! lol

Ordered a Shrockworks rear bumper on the group buy. It will compliment my front bumper nicely.

yeah smittybilt does have a great warranty and customer service. They sent me an entire gear box free of charge. Good stuff.

You will like the synthetic line too, the weight savings are big plus.

Did some painting this week.

Picked this up for 40$

Cleaned up under the roof rack and painted the rails and crossbars while they were off.

i hope you like visiting 4wp... or mailing a winch... now that you did not get the warranty from 4wp, because you will be sending that winch back a lot...

my advice, sell the new winch time meow, and use that money to put towards a Warn winch and never have the issue again, no worries about sending it in because one day it just decided to not work. -what if it had done that when you actually needed the winch? just some food for thought

It still worked it just wouldnt freespool. I could winch it in and out just fine, in reality I just wanted synthetic line. This winch I plan on running through the winter then taking it off and taking apart and greasing everything up and putting it back together with sealant this time. Will see, they were supposed to make a ton of improvements on these 2nd gen winches. Only time will tell.

once I have a new daily driver and this is more of my toy and I get everything else done the way I like, if this winch goes I will be in the market for a better brand for sure.

I am thinking of putting mine somehow where I can plug in from in front of my stock bumper.

If you take off they drivers side horn you can use the mounting tabs for the horn to mount it right beind the grille. Hold for pics....

See the horn brakets holding it up at a kinda angle.

Extend the plug wires and stick it in the grill!

Be aware of the antenna motor behind the right fender when cutting

I put mine between the worst of the pinstripes, where the sides see the least amount of branch action. My front signal, markers and side markers blink

The hubby liked it so much he did similar to the 99, but in the more usual position. His front signal and side markers blink

I can't deny that the fact 4x is right here in town didn't come into play when I was choosing what bumper to get lol. Good to here man!!
