What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got my toytec top spacers in today, so I can finally finish out the front end.

Got stuck.
went down a trail I've been through several times. Was in 2 wheel drive with atrac vsc off, went through a hole most people avoid and go around. Made it 3/4 of the way through and got stuck. Put it in 4 wheel drive still stuck but barely (had 2 wheels off the ground). Atrac could have saved the day but sadly I have to turn my car off and on to gain Atrac back once it's been turned off, thing is I was in deep water so didn't want risk it. Good news is I got to test out my flex in the rear with landcruiser shocks. Sad news is my phone was out of battery so no pics and also had to get pulled out by a Jeep Heep

I believe that is actually the VSC (Vehicle Skid Control) that is designed to correct sideways skids to help prevent rollovers.
This is what I've been lead to believe and also have found via experience; I have my VSC disabled (but traction control still enabled) due to it's over sensitivity on snowy roads, and I don't get any beeping during drifts.

Back on topic - removable doors!
After installing "quick" release pins a few weeks ago, I finally got all 4 doors off this past weekend! Pretty darn fun I think. Luckily laws here in Mississippi only require 1 rear facing mirror which is covered by the rear view mirror inside the vehicle.

And when you want to jam out but your speakers are in your doors and your doors are in your living room, you buy a DC to AC power inverter, plug in your stereo, and strap it in the back seat with the middle seat belt so it doesn't fly out. :rockon:

I've heard some rumbling and grumblings that taking the doors off can cause issues with the body/frame flexing too much without their support? After thinking about this more, the only support the doors could provide would be starting at the hinges (only hard connection point), and the support would come from either the seal around the rubber door seal gaskets, or the latch. Neither to me seem like either of those points would add structural support.
Any opinions on this?

In a rollover situation, I could see the doors providing a good bit of support to the roof. Obviously not enough support to rely on saving my life, but definitely more than the nothing that is there when doorless. If running doorless, I'd much prefer a cage of some kind as additional insurance.

Yeah it will be ok. But if you wheel at all the stock shocks dont have enough travel for anywhere near full flex.

Went ahead and did a little plasti dip on my fenders and wheels. Looks good!!
The inside of the fender wells I also did. Its not in the first pic, but on the other side it is completely black.

Yeah that's your sway bar bushing. There's two of them on the front sway bar and two in the back.
I suggest replacing it with Energy Suspension bushings (check their website). They are top notch and really got rid of all body roll on my rig. I think their set of bushings also comes with the sway bar end link bushings (these are clamped on either side of the sway bar where it connects to the end links).

Wow, your 4Runner is the only one I've seen that looks "normal" without the doors on! I want to make some very minimal front half doors (only bottom lip, speaker, and mirror).

Should have said I replaced it already with an oem bushing. It did seem like it got rid of some body roll As you said. But I still have a creaking sound when going over bumpy trails it's not bad but I like my runner not making funny sounds.
