Blacked out hub covers

It's funny how something so easy and simple can make such a difference.....gone are the flaking, worn silver factory painted hub covers....200grit and some gloss black.....I am contemplating painting the logo inlay silver, but I kinda like the all black too!

A few weeks ago, the 4Runner started lighting the VSC/ABS lights. I checked through the website and got all kinds of recommendations (loose gas cap, MAF sensor, speed sensor, etc.).

Got the MAF sensor cleaned a couple of weeks ago. Very dirty, wish I would have taken a picture.
Yesterday, I cleaned the left and right speed sensors. Relatively easy task.
Problem NOT solved. Will try the zero point calibration next.

Had the seats and carpets washed (paid a local carwash to do it).

Rotella t6 and WIX. Rear brakes. New emissions piece of crap solenoid replaced. oiled driveline. Whisky/cola.

Next on the list. Taking out the crap Autolite plugs and putting in NGK dual electrodes. Replacing AC and PS belts. Whiskey/cola.

I finally Got around to doing the Tundra Brake Upgrade. I got all my parts at Autozone and it took about 3 hours taking it very slow and taking my time one side at a time. I found the culprit of my shaking on highway speeds, It was the passenger side caliper with 2 frozen cylinders. I was a few days away from diagonally burning through the backing plate on one pad.

As I've read and now experience the braking power is amazing, but getting used to the peddle travel will take some time. No more warped rotors for me :surfer: :bigok:

You can adjust the pedal height if you have too much play. On the back of the brake petal there's a bracket with a 12mm (I think) hex on the end and a 12 mm nut. Loosen the nut and rotate the rod going through the firewall. You'll probably have to adjust your brake stop switch as well though, I had to since it won't be long enough and your brake lights might stay on.

Also, a good thorough brake fluid bleeding procedure and brake booster flush (mashing on the pedal with the engine off, then on) does wonders!

Looked under my 4runner and took some pictures to see where my exhaust leak was coming from. It looks to be this piece circled in red.



It looks like it was welded on poorly and is now leaking. I was just going to replace the whole cat assembly because it's only $160 for a new one. My question is...do I even have a chance with these rusted bolts? Should I spray them with PB Blast for days?

If there's any doubt of the location of your leak, use seafoam of your intake. When you start the car again you'll see the smoke coming out of the leak.

After my lift, which was a bit higher than I anticipated, my new Duratracs seemed small. I went ahead and purchased a second set of tires in less than three months. I'm pleased with the results. I went with Nitto Grappler M/T 295/70/17. If anyone is looking for a virtually new set of Duratracs, they are for sale.

Drain & filled rear diff, front diff and transfer case plus greased the u-joints. Promptly found a dirt field and threw it in 4hi which instantly turned me into a 7 year old again.

Both I and the truck were scolded when we returned and forced to take a bath... :biggrin2:

All cleaned up again...not bad for 18 years and 370,862 miles

Speaking from someone who replaced his cats last month, that would be a negative. I ended up using a sawzall...would've been easier and faster if I had a torch.

So what did you cut off? The bolt heads themselves?

If you had a torch, would you have heated the bolts instead? Or did you mean an OxyAcetylene Torch?
